THE ENTERPRISE COVINGTON Ga
Georgia’s Real Capitalists.
Walter S Coleman, president
of the Georgia Weekly Press
Association since the memory of
man runneth not, has issued an
official pronunciamento calling
the Knights of the Washington
Hand-Press together in Sanders
ville, Tune G.
Knight of the W. H. P. dosen’t
hold good in many instances now,
however. Most of the Georgia
editors have perfecting presses
and linotype machines, and have j
risen to the dignity of near-cap- J
italists
President Coleman is one of the
most opulent of the lot. With E.
B. Russel, lie owns theCedartown
tandard, one of the best weeklies
in the South.
Sandersville will stavger along
with the editors until June 8, on
which day the whole crowd will
embark in Pullmans and a few
ordinary coaches for Atlanta, from
where they will bee-line to James¬
town, arriving in time to boost
Georgia Day along in great shape
on June 10.
Sandersville, hospitable and
historic, expects to slip the halter
off from the event of the editorial
habit the Sandersvillians prefer
to take the initiative, concious of
the fact that the editors would
take the halter off anyway. Go¬
ing to be gay times mixed in with
the hard common sense of the
meeting. The boys know how to
work as well as have a good time.
Besides most of them will have
wives or sweethearts along. It is
necessary for Mrs. President Cole¬
man to attend all the meetings to
see that Presidont Coleman’s jo¬
vial humor does not over-reach.
No program has yet been
announced officially, but in order
to relieve President Coleman of a
great deal of worry over it, the
following outline is presented:
Experiences as Head of the
Georgia Press Association Through
a Decade—Walter S. Coleman.
A Hundred Year? of Weekly
Journalism In Georgia—Dick
Grubb, Darien Gazette.
The best town in Georgia To
Run a Weekly (having tried nl
of them)—Jack Majors, iu New
nan last week.
Some Political Recollection? of
the Lust Fifty Years—Trox Bank¬
ston, West Point News
Peminisceuces of a Reformed
Weekly Editor—Hooper Alexan¬
Georgian.
