WATER WORKS
Covington to Issue Bonds For
Great Modern Convenience.
Mayor and Council In¬
spect Monroe Plant.
The Mayor and Council have
under consideration a proposition,
which, if carried out, will mean
much for Covington. They pro¬
pose to call for an election for a
bond issue of about $50,000 fur
the purpose of putting in a system
of water works, and for other pur
poses. We believe that an election
for such an enterprise would be
ratified by the tax-payers.
The Mayor and Council accoui
panied by a number of representa¬
tive citizens went to Monroe Wed¬
nesday to inspect the water works
system in that city. They were
favorably impressed, and no doubt
received much valuable data that
will be of much benefit when Cov¬
ington establishes a water system
Here’s to you Mr. Mayor and
Council. Don’t let the proposition
fail.

STONE MOUNTAIN
First Ball Game of Season to Be
Played Next Monday After¬
noon—Attend Game And
Encourage The Boys.
Locally speaking, next Monday
afternoon marks the opening of
the baseball season >n Covington,
when the team representing the
Lniversity School at Stone Moun¬
tain will be here tor a game at 4
o’clock, The bunch from the
Mountain is an exceedingly fast
one and when they stack up against
the Covington aggregation a fine
game is assured all lovers of the
manly sport.
Covington has heretofore had a
splendid team each season, and
why not encourage the boys to
greater efforts now than in the
past? The team last year made an
enviable record, indeed, and we
hope the coming season will see as
go<d, if not better, nine than
proudly bore the banner of victory
last season.
The local line up for Monday
has t:ot been fully decided upon,
but rest assured that a fast bunch
will be on the field. With Irb
Norman. Lee, Bill Begren,
Guy Boyd and others back in har¬
ness, old tim**e will gundy return,
and when the ninth liming closes
the same old words will gladly
echo and re-echo throughout the
same old park—Covington wins!
Let those many iovul Covington
fans stick to the home team, en¬
courage them at all times, and see
that a large crowd witnesses the
opening game; then prospects will
brighten and many and good will
be the games here this season.
