Annual Celebration
At Oak Hill July 4.
1 he committee on arrangements
at Oak Hill is hard at work per¬
fecting arrangements for the an
nual celebration July 4th. They
state that they will announce an
attractive program in a few' days.
These celebrations at Ouk HiH
have a wide reputation and are,
perhaps, more largely attended
than any other similar occasions in
Georgia.
Mr. T. W. Hicks has erected a
commodious tabernacle m the
large grove, and other conveniences
have been placed on the grounds
which add materially to the com¬
fort and pleasure of the Glorious
Fourth.
If you have never attended the
Oak Hill celebration von have
missed one of the rarest treats
Newton county annually affords.
Piominent speakers, excellent
music, good things to eat, and last
and best, hundreds of beautiful
maidens, compose the good things
at Oak Hill. If anyone is looking
for something more fascinating
than the above enumerated, why,
he can go somewhere else.
Turn out on July 4lh !

Manifield to Issue Bonds
For School Purposes.
At an election held in Mansfield
Tuesday to d#"ide whether or not
$0,000 in bonds would be issued
for the purpose of building and
tJf l lll PI , iug a school house, etc , the
citizens of the progressive little
city voted: For bonds 48; against
22 .
Mansfield’s growth the past three
or four years has been most re¬
markable, and this decision of her
people for better school facilities is
but an evidence of the road ln
which that city expects to stav—
the road to modern progress and
civilization.

COTTON SEED ARE
SOARING STILL.
Prices Are Going Higher Over
The State—Occasioned by
the Large Amount of
Replanting.
While cotton seed are selling in
[ M'd around Covington at 80 and
40 cents per bushel, they are even
higher in other localities. Cotn
niissioner of Agriculture Hudson
says that in many places cotton
seed are selling at GO and 75 cents
per bushel, and hard to get at that,
while tne usual price in the coun¬
ty is from 15 to 25 ceuts. The
present demand i9 occasioned by
the large amount of replanting
made necessary by the recent cold
weather. In many sections of this
county the farmers have within
the past lew weeks plowed up and
replanted many acres of cotton,
where they failed to get the proper j I
stand or anything like a stand
from their first plonting. j
