Mansfield won a game of ball
from the Covington team on the
former’s grounds last Fnday. De- j
spite the fact that only two or
three of the Covington regulars
were in the game, the rest of the
team being composed of only fairly
good plajeis, our boys held the
Mamfleld aggregation to o and 4
in a tea inning game.

Mr. E. C. Duffy and Family
Move to Covington.
Mr. E. C. Duffy and family of
Louisburg, Tenn., have moved in¬
to the Edwards home on Church
street. Mr. Duffy is at present
connected with the Covington
Hardware Co. He has a wife, two
daughters, Misses Ethel and Mary,
and one son, E. C. Jr. Miss Ethel
is an accomplished musician; Miss
Mary is a teacher in the City
Schools of Dotham, Ala. E. C.
Jr., graduated this year with first
honor ill the Louisburg schools.
We extend to Mr. Duffy and fami¬
ly a hearty welcome. Covington
always extends the hand of wel¬
come to good citizens.
Mbs Everett Entertains.

On last Saturday evening Miss
Kate Everett, of Almon, honored
her guest, Miss Hardy, with a
moon-light, picnic on the banka of
river, near the bridge. Every one
enjoyed the moon-light on the
river.
Just at dusk lunch was apread,
and this proved to be one among
the most interesting parts of the
program, which waa especially en¬
joyed by the entire party.
Among the visitors were: Misses
Annie May Berry and Ruth Briain
dine, and Mr. Tom Skelton, of
C»vingt,on.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dobbs
chaperoned. Quite a number of
young people were present and
the occasion will long be remem¬
bered.

Atlanta, where he goes to attend
the present session of the legisla
ture.
He is in favor of a number ot
important measures he hopes to
see passed at this session, among
them are: extension of State
Road to the sea; The proper
equipment and maintainance of
our agricultural schools; The
payment of the teachers of the
State; The establishment of a
city court for Covington; compen¬
sating, the loser when a thief hns
been apprehended and convicted;
amendments to the charters of j
Newborn and Covington. Of j
