The following resoltutions were
unanimouslly adopted and sent to
our representative, Hon. Frank D.
Ballard, and Senator Turner.
To Hon. F. D. Ballard, Senator
Turner and the Temperance Com¬
mittee :
Whereas, there is now pending
a bill in the senate known as the
Covington-Hardmau Bill and
which has for its object t he prohi¬
bition of the sale, manufacture
and importation of liquor in Geor¬
gia, and Whereas, we believe that
government is organized with a
view to the protection and preser¬
vation of its citizens and that it
cannot divest itself of the power to
provide for them; and Whereas,
the citizens of Georgia need pro¬
tection from the encroachments of
the liquor traffic and the legalized
saloons, and Whereas, we believe
that the total prohibition cf the
whiskey traffic in this state will
afford us that protection, and that
prohibition is the promised life

Shoals on Wednesday, Juiy Hist.
A very interesting program is
being arranged; plenty of fine
water, shades and picnic grounds.
Everybody has a cordial invitation
to attend and bring well filled

There has never a year passed
but that a very large crowd at¬
tended the annual Sunday school
celebration at Snapping Shoals,
and the good people of that section
are making greater preparations
this year than ever, and expect to
far excel all pievioua occasions
both in attendance and entertain¬

is good in our modern civilization;
and Whereas, we believe that a
sanction by license of any kind is
a justification of the liquor traffic
and an insult to all that is good,
true and uplifting, therefore,
Be it resolved by the citizens of
Covington in mass meeting assem¬

endorse the Coviugton-Hardman
