RIDDLE GEORGIA
INTERURBAN LINE.
£Iectric Railroad Being Surveyed
Between Griffin and Social
Circle— To Run Through
Newton County.
Plans for the building of the
Middle Georgia Interurban electric
railway have been announced, a
surveying corps is now in the field,
an d it seems practically certain
that th • new line wi’l be constrict¬
ed within the next twelve months.
As i- set forth in the petition
for charter, published elsewhere m
The Enterprise, it is proposed to
const -act, equip and maintain a
line of railway from Griffin in
,
Spaulding county, Jackson in
Butts county, Mansfield in Newton
county, and Social Circle in Wal¬
ton county, passing through the
said counties of Spaulding, Butts,
Jasper, Newton and Walton with
branch or brunches from some con¬
venient point or points to Flovilla
in Batts county and Monticello in
Jasper county. The capital stock
of the corporation is placed at
$200,000 in common .stock, to be
increased, as may desired, from
time to time. The principal office
will be in Atlanta.
The proposed line, according to
the preliminary survey, will be
seventy miles in length, about
one-half of which takes up the old
roadbeds between Griffin and Jack,
son and Monticello and Social Cir
cle.
The road will traverse the eastern
section of Newton county, passing
through the thriving little city of
Mansfield, and all along the ^ lue
will open up a splendid section of
C0Ulltry -
