Mr. J. Z. Johnson foi connty Com¬
missioner Mr. Johnson is too well j
known to the people of Newton
County to need any words ot
praise from us. He has served in
this cupacity for several terms w ith
ability. When he first entered
office the county was in debt t-j
the extent of about $27000.00 and
now it owes less than $4000.00.
Mr. Johnson is one of our most
public spirited ot citizens and is a
member of the Board of Directors
of the Fifth District Agricultural}
College. For the past two years
he has been Chairman of the
County Board of Commissioners
and all persons with whom he has
business dealings are high in their
praise of his business ability.
Mr. Johnson is a native of New-1
ton County, a successful merchant I
and planter. If he is re elected to
the position he has so well filled
he will certainly continu“ the ex
cel lent service he has given the
county for ttie past several years,

formed, spiritual man and very
fable in manner. He adopted him¬

and preached a splendid opening

the fact that much of our so called
knowledge is received by faith, and
we need not stumble at difficulties
in religion because we cannot un¬
derstand.
He declared that he did not feel
called upon to preach to infidels
who did not believe m miracles,

pie admitted the place of faith,
His duty, he conceives to be, to
persuade men to accept what they
believe.
It was a timely and impressive
sermon.
He will preach every morning at
10 and at 4 and 7:30 p. m. for
two weeks.
