WEEKLY EDITORS
AT GAINESVILLE.
One of the Most Enjoyable Ses
sions of the Weekly Press
Association Held.
It was the pleasure of the editor
of The Enterprise to be in atten¬
dance upon the 22nd annual con
vent ion ot the Georgia Weekly
Press Association which convened
at jGainesville on Tuesday and
Wednesday of last week.
It was without doubt one of the
most pleasant occasions that it has
been our opportunity to atteud.
The good people of the Queen C.ty
put forth every effort to make the
newspaper men have a r .yal good
tune, and we doubt if there was a
man on the trip who did not enjoy
every moment of his stay in that,
city.
There were about 20C members
of the Association present, and
they were all high in the praise of
the hospitality extended them by
the citizens of Gainesville . Editor
Hardy, of the Gainesville News,
who was unanimously elected vice
president of the association, is due
much credit for the enjoyment ol
the stay in Gainesville.
An interesting feature of the
meeting was a can Age ride given
the editing over ike macadam road
to the good roads plant.
On Tuesday the members of the
association and u number ol friends
were given u reception at >he home
of Col. ai d Mrs. S. C. Dunlap,
The reception was a most
ful one.
•On Wednesday a baibtcue was
served at Chattahoochee park mi
der the dinctions of Cel. Howaid
Thompson, the ladies of the
having charge of the delicacies.
The following officers were elec - -
ed: H. M Stanley, of the Dublin
Courier Dispatch, president; A. f.
Hardy, of the Gainesville News,
vice /.resident; W. A. Shackleford,
of the Oglethorpe Echo, secretary;

This announcement cast a deep
gloom over ourentire city Wednes

his home on Floyd stieet. Mr.

Henry Wells was one of the
most highly respected citizens of
our town and the news of his sad
death will carry with it sorrow to
the hearts uf people all over the
county. He numbered his friends
almost by his acquaintances. It
ca.i be truly said of Henry Weils
that be took great pride in his
home life and put forth every ef¬
fort to make life worth the living,
and his death is :nd-**d * end ont

an immense crowd, and r-nj >yed an
interesting program which was
well rendered.

sections of Newton county and is
forging her wav right to the front.
The rally would have done credit
to any community in Georgia and
by the way right in this connec¬
tion we want to sav that we have
never been able to see why it is
that all our country communities
don’t wake up and do something.
Agriculture long ago made her
Declaration of Independence, wag¬
ed a mighty struggle, whipped the
tight and won the day. This is all
brought about by a process of
education, back of which have
been the efforts of a limited num¬
ber of leaders who have unselfish¬
ly fought and struggled to estab¬
lish the farmer’s just rightful
piace tin.on : ttie vacations ut life.
This has been augmented by iu,
i prov-d lurai schools, m many ol
which agriculture is being success¬
fully taught. Under these im¬
proved conditions country people
have the advantages that they
have m-vei had before. Let oui
people take advantage uf their op
