OIL MILL ELECTS OFFICERS
AND DECLARES A DIVIDEND

Its First Season s Kun.
Wodnesday morning June 2d,
the stockholders of the Newton
Couuty Oil Mills held their first
annual meetipg. and when the
various reports were read, those of
the stockholders present expressed
themselves as highly pleated with
thp results shown in this, the first
year of the mill’s operation. At
the meeting of the directors which
was held immediately following
the adjournment of the stockhold¬
ers meeting, a dividend of 8 per
cent on the capital,stock of the in¬
stitution waft declared.
When it la remembered that
this institution only operated its
plant for one half of last season,
and crushed only 2800 tons, or
half its capacity, of cotton seed,
tbe above result will more fully
demonstrate the fact that it pays
to build up home industries by in¬
vesting Newton county capital
in Newton county institutions.
The plant of the Newton Coun¬
ty Oil Mills is one of the moqt
complete in its line in the south.
Its machinery is all new and of
modern construction, especially
adapted to the manufacture oi
cotton seed oil and so convenient¬
ly arranged that handling of

with four Murray all steel gina
which together with the four Lum
mui system gins already installed,

of the Hardie-Tyues type will be
used for operating the gins, and
taking the plant as a whole, this
will be the most complete and np
to date ginning plant in this
