Fishing is Now the Thing.
If you are not good with a rod
you don’t stand much show in this
town now. Almost every day you
can see some of the citizens of the
city with their little can of worms
and fishing pole hiking out to one of
the streams where they will sit on the
banks for hours and angle for the lit¬
tle fishes, not one of which is as large
as the ones referred to when Christ
fed the multitude. But speaking
about bites, you can get plenty of
them. Some of the boys on return¬
ing to town look like a miniature re¬
production of the Alps, where the
mosquitoes have been getting in their
nature illustrations.
Everyone knows that there isn’t
ten pounds of fish within forty miles
of this city, but just as sure as the
lord made little green apples, when
a sunny day comes the boys just have
to go, that’s all.
