LEGUIN NEWS
The Ladies Club, of Loguin had
Vionic Thursday, August 2 at
church. The women invited
families and the girls invited their
frineds.
The girls held their regular

WOMAN’S MISSION MEETING
Mrs. S. L. Waites, president pro tern,
called the W. M. S. to order at 4 o’clock
Monday afternoon.
The program which had been ar¬
ranged under the direction of Mrs. R.
if. Fowler, president, was replete with
interest and inspiration.
Mrs. Waites in her exposition of the
Scripture from John 6, made appropri¬
ate comment and applied Dr. Smart’s
excellent interpretation.
The dialogue given by Mrs. Count
Gibson and Mrs. Mac Pope was bright
und snappy, showing the great need
for taking the “Voice”, the missionary
paper. A quaint revision of an old
song concluded with:
“Then gather new Subscriptions
Then gather new subscriptions
Then gather new subscriptions
“For the Missionary Voice.”
Mrs. Luke Robinson reminded the
ladies of the quilt now in progress for
a charitable purpose.
Mrs. Count Gibson urged the can¬
ned fruit donations for September. A
box to be sent to one of the three ben¬
evolent institutions.

PARTY FOR VISITOR
Misses Katherine, Rebecca and Mar¬
garet Pennington complimented their
young guest, Miss Ruth Campbell, of
Mansfield, with a lawn party Wednes¬
day.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. R.
Pennington was adorned with grow¬
ing plants and bright-hued blossoms.
Merry games were enjoyed.
Sandwiches and lemonade were serv¬
ed. About fifteen yuests were present.

ENTERTAIN AT BARBECUE
Mr. and Mrs. Everett Evans gave a
barbecue at their Starrsville home last
week, bringing together relatives from
Monroe, Hayston, Covington, Rocky
Plains and Alabama.
In the center of the table was a mag¬
cake, decorated with pink can¬
and bearing the name of Mr.
Evans and date of birth, which the oc¬
casion honored.
After a dinner, combining picnic and
barbecue features, the company enjoy¬
ed music and games. Late in the after¬
noon, the guests dispersed, expressing
appreciation and many good wishes for
a happy return of the day.

BIRTHDAY CEL1 ORATION
The fourth birth anniversary of
Cleon Turner, young son of Mrs. Clif¬
ford Nixon Turin -, was celebrated
with a pretty part: on Monday, assem¬
bling about twenty five young friends.
A shower of gif ; gladdened the lit¬
tle boy.
Mr. Troy Turner, of Macon, uncle

pleasures and add to the enjoyment as

IN GREENE COUNTY
The Armstrong-Robinson families
met at the old home church in Gresh
amville, CIreen county to hold the an¬
nual reunion, last week.
These occasions bring together rela¬
tives and friends from near and far.
Some were there this year who had
not met in thirty years.
It was a happy and sacred time for
all present.

ington were Dr. and Mrs. Luke Rob¬
