My Key of Memory
Words by Elizabeth Heard—Mu
sic by Geo. Graff, Jr.
There is a door within my heart
Whose key above you hold—
It guards my childhood days apart,
With love for you untold.
This key the door of mem’ry keeps
And youth’s enchanted dream,
And sometimes when the world sleeps.
I catch again the gleam.
CHORUS
Then the wonder days of childhood
Still return in dreams to me—
When we wandered in the wild wood
And I gave to you this key.
Ah! childhood days. Ah! joyous days,
Beneath a cloudless sky,
You hold the key of memory
To golden days gone by.
