Miss Ethel Robertson left
Sunday for Eatonton, where she
will spend several days with rel¬
atives.
An enjoyable event of last
week was the moonlight picnic
given by Mr. and Mrs. Capers
Robertson in honor of their
guests at about 10:30 o’clock. A
picnic lunch was served which
was enjoyed by all.
Miss Amanda Perry, of Madi¬
son, spent the week-end with
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Elliott, and
attended the three days meeting
at Shoal Creek.

Mae Calvert and Mrs. Mattie

The most cordial interest cen¬
ters in the recent announcement
of the marriage of Miss Mary
Lizzie Cook and Mr. Edward M.
Robertson, which was quietly
solemnized at the home of Rev.
C. F. Allen, in Oxford, Saturday
morning, June 30. Mr. and Mrs.
Robertson left August 12 for At¬
lanta, where Mr. Robertson holds
a responsible position. They are
at home to their many friends
at 21 Willow street. They will
be greatly missed by their many
friends. We wish for them a long
life of happiness. closed

The marriage of Miss Eleanor
Louise Jones, daughter of Mrs.
Mary India Jones, to Carl P.
Deden, took place at 10 o’clock
Saturday morning, July 28, at
the home of the bride’s brother
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. T. F.
Jones with Rev. C. M. Bishop
reading the services. The bride
wore a handsome dress of dark
satin with hat and accesories of
gray. Mrs. Deden has lived in
Houston only a year. Her for¬
mer home being Oxford, Ga. Af¬
ter their wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Deden will be at home in
Houston—From Houston Paper.

The American Legion wants every ex-Service man
of Newton county to be here Wednesday, August 29th,
and enroll with Post No. 32.
There are tickets being sold by the legionnaires and
on sale at Covington Stores for the barbecue. The funds
will be used in helping defray expenses of the day and to
provide nucleus fund for legion work in assisting dis¬
abled and needy veterans of the world war.
Come on, boys, and let’s have a big time on this date.
