joyed the singing given at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Elliott Sunday
night.
There will be an ice cream supper
Saturday night. September 1, in the
grove at M. C. Hitchcock’s store, and
also a measuring contest. The funds
will be used for ceiling Pine Grove
Presbyterian church. Everybody is cor¬
dially invited to come.

The singing at the home of Mr. B.
H. Standard Saturday night was at¬
tended by a large crowd, and had a
fine singing, led by Mr. W. E. Gray,
from Porterdale. He invited ®ur sing¬
ing class to meet at his house, at 55
Poplar street, Thursday night. Our Sat¬
urday night singing will be at Mr. Jack
Kirkland’s. Everybody go.
A large crowd attended Sunday
School at Salem Sunday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Holifield vis¬
ited relatives at Worthville Sunday af¬
ternoon.
Miss Lucile Kirkland left Sunday af¬
ternoon for Atlanta, where she has ac¬
cepted a position. We will miss her at
the singings, but wish for her much
success.
Messrs. Sam Chastain, H. C. Han
nock, Wyatt Henley and son, Gilbert,
from Locust Grove, made a business
trip to Porterdale Wednesday and stop¬
ped over with Mr. B. H. Standard. We
understand that Mr. Bailey is prepar¬
ing to put up a garage near his’) place
of business, and that it will be in the
charge of Mr. Gilbert Henley. We wel¬
come this excellent young man to our
community.
Herman Holifield is spending some
time in South Georgia, visiting his rel¬
atives.
Mary Will and Nellie Maud Standard
