LOCAL SOCIETY
BIRTHDAY PARTY
A beautiful event of the past week
•was the party at whieh Mrs. M. H.
Pennington was hostess honoring the
birthdays of her daughters. Misses
Phena and Luclle.
Shasta daisies were used in profu
sion throughout the house. The table
•was beautifully decorated with two
large birthday cakes 1 tearing yellow
candles which carried the color scheme
of white and yellow.
Music and proms featured the even
Sng’s entertainment.
The cutting of the cakes afforded
much merriment, after which the hos
tess served punch and wafers.
The Misses Penningtons received
many beautiful and useful gifts.
About fifty guests enjoyed Mrs. Pen
nington’s hospitality. She was assist
ed in entertaining by her daughters,
Mrs. R. W. Aiken and Mrs. H. M. Bo
hannon.

used as decorations throughout the |
house.
The dining table had as its center
piece a bouqtief of garden flowers with
whfte unshaded candles on either side,
The main feature of decorations was
the large white wedding hell hanging
over the table, as the honoree sat
down to the table she pulled the string
tied to the clapper, thus showering
rice.
Many lovely and useful gifts were
presented the honoree.
The hostess served a dalftty plate
followed by an ice course.

hostesses at a linen shower honoring
Miss Laura Heard Bush, a popular
bride-elect of this month, at the home
of Miss Smith on Emory street.
Dahlias, snapdragons and gladio

out the house, formed a beautiful
background for the occasion.
A most interesting program as the
feature of entertainment was given
as follows, a short witty talk to
bride by Miss Katherine Smith. Song,

The groom is the only son of Mrs.

a responsible position in the shops of

Macon, where he lias been for the past
two and a half years. He is a young
man of pleasing personality and high
est integrity

candles on the dining table. Miss Bush

the hostess.
