U. D. C. MEETING
Th eCovington chapter of the Unit
ed Daughters of the Confederacy met
at the library on Tuesday afternoon,
July 16. The new president, Miss Sal
lie Mae Sockwell, presided..
Fitting resolutions on the death of
Mrs. W. C. Clark were read by Mrs.
S. L. Waites, chairman of that com
mittee. These were adopted and placed
on the minutes. A letter was read from
Airs. W. Trox Bankston, state presi
dent, thanking the chapter for the
honor bestowed ujion her at the June
meeting, when it was voted for this
chapter to give a silver loving cup
bearing her name as an award for the
Helen Plane Educational Fund.
Miss Sockwell, after reading the res
olutions passed at the Atlanta con
vention, adopting July 16 as Mildred
Rutherford Day, turned the meeting
over to the program committee.
Mrs. R. E. Everitt, chairman of the
program committee, presented one of
our veterans. Mr. R. I. Weaver, who
gave a most interesting and enthusias
tic report of the reunion at Charlotte.
A splendid report from the C. of C.
convention was given by Miss Anna
Taylor.

prize. Mrs. Young and Mrs. Hall were

At the close of the game a delicious
salad course and punch was served.
