Methodist Missionary Society Held at *

The July meeting of the
ary Society was held Tuesday after
noon at the Methodist Church.
Mrs. W, S. Cook presided. Tne

Mrs. George Smith took charge of
the program for Mrs. Phillips, who
is sick.
The subjeect of study was “Bring
ing Korea to Christ.” Scripture read
ing was from the Gospel of Matthew.
She said “God calls each of us
to help bring about his Kingdom
here on Earth.” Thu song What a
Friend’’ was sung. Streessing the
thought of the month clearly and
concisely, Mrs. Smith said. “We are
called upon to build for Christ's
Kingdom here at home just as the
Missionariees are building for Him
abroad.” Then she led in prayer.
Miss Ethel Belcher gave an in
teresting talk on some of the schools
of Korea. She mentioned Carolina
Institute, so named because children
of North Carolina raised funds for
the building of the first school.

The Lucy Cunningham School has
a large enrollment. The Holston In
! stitute was mentioned as the first
school for girls.
Mrs. Haynes then told of several
schools. One of these was “Ewha”
the largest college and the only
one just for women. These schools
she said were striving to create a
new standard of culture for Korea,
This ended thee study of these
schools of Korea, where we hope
the foundation and preparation of
Christian lives are made.
After the reading of the minutes,
the Tieasurer gave her report. No
report was made from any of the
Chairmen.
Alberta Williams, who was sent
to Paynee College by the Society,
gave a report of the work at the
school. She said she has plans com
pleteed for the Bible School for
colored children. She hopes to start
soon.
The meeting was dismissed with
prayer by Mrs, Taylor.
