way, with neither team having am
edge until the closing minutes of
the game.
The Covington tpam played in the
Tucker tourney without the services
of their star guard, Edward Smith, j
who sprained his ankle anew'. Smith :
hurt his ankie early in the season j
and the injury had bothered himj
all along. It was hurt in the tour

The team played good ball in the
Tucker tourney, but it lacked the
fire of their attacks in the Yellow
River League play-offs at Social
Circle.
Thursday night the locals will
play the porterdale High school
team at Porterdale. The game will!
be played at 7 o'clock and is not
part of the Invitation Tournament

It seemed that the boys knew everyone bad the cards
stacked against them and they decided to do something
about it. They mowed down all opposition at Social Circle
and licked Conyers in the first round of the 5th District

doesn’t take any credit away from the boys though. They

The boys were inspired to
play just a little harder

team by the score of 20-14. Rosa
lie English w'as the high scorer for
tlie Glennites, but Moody, Davis and

her at the forward position. The
feature of the game, however, was
the splendid performances by the
guards. Capes, Moss, Adams and
Miss Glenn herself. Guarding on a
girls’ team under girls' rules is like
a good baseball pitcher. If you can
keep the other side from scoring,
then it is not so very necessary for
the forwards to run up a high score.
The Porterdale guards kept the
Mercer forwards under their con
