Companies B and C. B, urdefeated
for the three seasons, is coped to
win by a close margin.
Thanksgiving holidays will begin
next Wednesday afternoon at the
close Of classes and end Sunday
night.

this week by Prof. Jordan's father
and mother, Rev. and Mrs. H. S.
Jordan, of Edison.

The petition of C. D. Ramsey, Jr
Susie S. Ramsey, and Martha Ram
sey, all of Newton County, and Mrs
j 3 Maddox, of Floyd County,
State of Georgia, respectfully shows:
1. That they desire for them
selves, their associates and succes
sors, to be incorporated and made a
body politic under the name and
of RAMSEY FURNITURE
COMPANY, and for the period oi
thirty-five years.
2 The object of said corporation
is pecuniary gain to itself and its
shareholders,
3. The business to be carried on
and transacted by said corporation
is a furniture store buying and seli
ing household and kitchen furniture,
stoves, refrigerators, and such othei
articles as may be used in furnish
ing a home.
4. The maximum number of
shares of stock shall be two hun
dred, with a par value of each share
of one hundred dollars.
5. The amount of capital stock
with which said corporation will be
gin business .shall be Twelve Thous
and Dollars.
6. That the capital stock may be
lncrcased from time to time, not to
exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars, as
may be deemed advisable, as pro
vided for the maximum number oi
shares as herein petitioned.
7. That the principal office of
said corporation shall be located in
the city of Covington, Newton
County, State of Georgia-

sites and disease lack of sufficient
fencing; low quality breeding stock;
high cast of production ouside of
the peanut areas; losses resulting
from improper handling of meat on j
the farm; fluctuation of price due
to an uneven distribution of hogs j

WORLD COTTON SUPPLIES
The world suppy of ail growths of
cotton in the 1940-41 season is ex
pected to be slightly be.ow the rec
ord or near-record supplies of the
past three years, the Bureau of Ag
ricultural Economics says m its an
nual outlook on the cotton situa
tion World consumption in 1939-40
is expected to be about equal pro
duction, the Bureau stat'd, This
would indicate a carry-o v er of all
growths of cotton on August, 1, 1940,
not materially different from the
near record stocks of 21,900 000 bales
at the beginning of the current
season.
More than 500 000 bales of cotton,
or, a twelfth of the toial domestic
consumption, is used in tlte manu
facture of automobile ti:es. Th p
National Cotton Council is seeking
to halt the invasion of this market
by rayon.

Payments on Cotton Certified
For Over 7,0000,000 to Date
Homer S. Durden, state adminis
trative officer of the Agricultural
Adjustment Administration, an
nounced from Athens this week that
certification of over $7 000,000 in
cotton price adjustment payments
on Georgia’s 1939 crop has been
made farmers to dale.
“December 31 has been set by the
State AAA Committee as the clos
ing date to accept applications for
price adjustment payments," Mr.
Durden said. “No doubt there are
some farmers who have not signed
applications and are exo-ciing pay-,
ments. These cannot be made unless i

payment. The 1939 price adjustment
payments in Georgia tire expected

to the farmers,
The price adjustment rate on cot
ton is 1.6 cents for each pound of
the established normal yield on each
acre of the 1939 cotton
