December Meeting of Oxford Woman's
Club Is Held at the Clubhouse, Recently
The members of the Oxford Wo
man's Club spent a profitable and
interesting session at the December
meeting, which was held at the club
house recently with the president,
Mrs. W. L Floyd, in the chair. The
club room was lovely with flowers
of the season. The Christmas motif
being carried out in the decorations.
The meeting was opened with

and handkerchief shower, given Fri
day afternoon by Mrs, Warren Still
well.
The mantle was adorned with
sprigs of long leaf pine, bearing
decorative cones out of which arose
a mound of illuminated waxed fruit.
Above the fireplace was on unique
arrangement of silver sleigh bells,
tied with large red satin bows.
Gleaming candles, red berries and
greenry were effectively used in the
remainder of the house.

Plans were formulated to join
other organizations of the town in
helping spread Christmas cheer
Mrs. Floyd, club president, appoint
ed a committee composed of Mrs
C. S. Forrester. Mrs. M. R. Elling
ton and Mrs. E L. Ficquette for
this project.
Mrs. E- A. Edwards introduced
the guest speaker, the Reverend C.
S Forester, who spoke most inter
estingly on “Community Life.” Rev.
Forester's message expressed signif
icant facts pertaining to what our
part is in this great life. Contained
in his talk were revelations of the
abundance of service there is for
all. Christmas carols were sung with
Mrs. W. H Budd at the piano.
During the social hour the hos
tesses. Mesdames R. L. Paine, H M.
Thompson and M. R Gardner,
served delicious fruit cake, hot cof
fee, candy and nuts.

The Christmas tree was enjoyed

her by the club.
Wishes for a Merry Christmas and
a happy New Year were exchanged.
During the social half-hour the

was to collect food, clothing and
toys for a needy family of seven
and things donated were put un

delivered at a later date.

Mrs. Godfrey Trammell.
During the business session the
following officers were elected for
the ensuing year: Mrs, N. S. Tur
ner Jr., chairman, Mrs. Grady Wal
ton, secretary; Mrs T. L. McMul
iin, treasurer. The program was the
conclusion of the study of the book
“His Story in Georgia History of
the B W. M. S ” This was laad by
Mrs H B, Floyd and Mrs. R. H.
Greene.

The spirit of Christmas was carried
out in the lovely decorations. After

Smith. She expressed the thanks of
