-BITS OF
Southern
Sunshine
By Mrs. Henry Odum
Home! Just what does this word
mean to you?
Does it make your heart beat a
little faster, does it make you wish
to quicken your steps? Yes . . . that
is what home should do for every
one.
When days are dark and dreary,
Look up to the blue above;
No mountain is so bleak and bare
But grows a flower of love.
There is an end to each waiting,
No matter how sad and long,
No forest is so dense but is bright
ened
t rbls °f native birdsong
Thp lovely part of the landscape
blending of sunshine and shade,
As a * n l he Heavens open
And a cloud of blue parade.
There is hope to guide us onward,
No matter how far we roam,
A-down the road a little way on
We see the lights of home.
Yes . . . the lights of home are al
ways welcome, we know there will
be many hard and tedious jobs wait
ing us ■ . . but w r e know also that
ones we love are waiting us there,
and this makes the busy days sweet
er
My life is such a pleasant, pressing
place.
From children's daily ills, to table
grace
My thoughts are such a tangled,
busy place
Of twinkling stars, to tattered lace
My heart is such a longing, hoping
place
Of pain and daily strife, to resting
space
My love is such a true, unfailing
place
No matter where I look, I see your
face.
