MR. J. C. CURRY
Friends of Mr. J. C. Curry,
55, who died at his home at
Covington. Mills suddenly
Tuesday morning, mourn the
passing of another of the “big
family” at Covington Mills.
Mr. Curry cam– to Coving
ton mills about 15 years ago.
he made many friends and
was well liked by those who
knew him.
He was a quiet sort of fel
low. Attended to his own bus
iness and let the other fellow’s
alone. May his soul gain an
ever resting place.
—TOM KINNEY.
A LETTER
Pickout Editor,
Covington News,
Dear Mr. Kinney:
For sometime now I have been
planning to write you a word or
i two just to let you know how much
I enjoy your column I do not
live out at Covington Mills but 1
I know lots of people out there and
i I get a kick out of reading some
thing about them ever so often in
your write-ups.
I know that there are a lot of
people who enjoy your column but
have never stopped long enough to
write you about it. They don’t
realize that you probably would
like to know how they like what
you are writing. They like it and
let it go at that. If your fan mail
is anything like what I received
while writing a column for a
weekly paper several years ago I
guess you sometimes get blue.
About the only mail I received
came from people that didn’t like
something I had said.
As you probably have guessed
by now, I am a woman. I tried to
do a gossip column once and got
into more trouble than a little. I
didn’t dare report blessed events
as you toss around so casually. My
hair is grey now—it used to be
red—and, I sometimes wonder if I
i would have any at all now had I
continued to write gossip.
I am advanced in age too much
to attend the bridge games and tea
parties so about the only gossip I
get hold of comes from your
umn in The News. Keep writing it
( and may you never get your hair
I Pulled out.
A VERY GOOD FRIEND.
Covington, Ga.
P. S.: I know you won’t like it
because I didn’t sign my name but
I have a good reason for not do
ing so. You might print this.
We like the above letter very
