Recommendations of Executive
Board meeting, Friday, September
6th were read by Mrs. Randall and
voted on as follows: : “That re
creation be provided for High
school pupils only, Friday evening
at the gym. chaperoned by teach
ers, to hist not later than 10:00
o’clock. 5 cents per pupil will
refreshments.
Every child will be examined by
a Dentist and parents are urged
to act promptly.
Each room is to be supplied
with a health kit. Membership
Drive is now on, to last through
October- Dues are 25c per mem
ber, and the room securing the
most members will receive a prize.
Also the grade having most par
ents present at P. T. A. meetings
will rceive $1.00.
The P.-T. A. will have a booth
> n ike fair ground in October,
and Mrs. Alford gave specific
plans for same.
Mrs. Floyd, program chairman,
announce the theme for the year,
“Pursuit of Happiness Through
Education.” Mrs- Homer Cook
spoke most effectively on “The
Home,” portraying its problems as
well as its Christian ideals.
The Executive Board served
ice cream during the social hour,
but was voted not to serve re
freshments hereafter.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Huff, of
Athens, and or the past several
months has been in training at the
Huson Memorial hospital. Mr.
Chesnut is the son of Mrs. S. C
Chesnut and the late Mr. Chesnut
of this city. They are residing in

Conyers, Saturday evening. Aug

sonage, with Rev. S. H. Dixon of

to Thomas Woodrow Moore, of

marriage took place at high noon,
September 7, at Peachtree Christ
ian Church, with Dr. Robert A
Burns performing the ceremony.

Weaver at her home on Church
street, at which time she enter
tained members of her club and

First Fall Meeting of Covington Book
Club Held With Mrs. Sandy Bush
The first fall meeting of the
Covington Book Club was held
Monday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Tandy Bush. Mrs. O- W.
Porter, newly elected president,
called the meeting to order and
presided over the short business
session.

The lovely home of Mrs. Bel
mont Dennis was the scene Mon
day evening of the meeting of the
Business Women’s Circle of the
First Baptist Church. The regu
lar monthly meeting was combin
ed with a shower for Mrs. Harry
Dietz, recent bride and a birth
day party, marking the eighth an
niversary of the Circle having
been organized by Mrs. Dennis
as the Y. W. A.’s.
Beautiful roses and other gar
den flowers were used throughout
the house.
The meeting was called to or
der by Mrs. Bob Lassiter, chair
man, and opened with a hymn,
followed with prayer by Mrs.
Dennis. Roll call was answered
with a Bible verse beginning with
the letter “G”. The chairman
called attention to the special
meeting which the circle will have
during the week of September
25th for the Season of Prayer. It
was voted to hold the meeting at
the home of Mrs. Harry Dietz on
Monday evening September 23rd.
The circle was especially glad to
have as visitors, Mrs. W.
Travis, president of the W. M.
and Miss Ruth Parker.
Mrs. Harry Dietz presented a
most interesting program entitled
“To The Jew First.” She was as
sisted by the various members,
Mrs. Travis explained the aims of
the W. M. U. for the coming year,
bouquet of sweetheart roses . Mrs.
Floyd is connected with the Mari
anne Beauty Salon of this city,
where she has a wide circle of
friends.
Mr. Floyd is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. G. .Floyd, Sr„ of
Lyons, and has made many friends
in Monroe since his going there
several months ago to accept the
position of WPA supervisor.
Mr- and Mrs. Floyd left im
mediately for a brief wedding trip
after which they will reside in
Monroe, at the Hester House.

Observe Eighth Organiation Anniversary
The meeting was closed with

A. Prayer," a poem written by
Mrs. Henry Odum for the first
anniversary of the organization.
Four charter members were pres
ent, Mrs- Harry Dietz, Mrs. S. M.
Hay, Jr., Misss Ruth Parker and
Miss Margaret Longshore.
The guests were invited into the
dining room where a beautiful
birthday cake with eight burning
candles graced the table, The
candles were blown out by the
charter members, and Mrs. Travis
and Mrs. Dennis.
Following the shower for Mrs.
Dietz, the hostess, assisted by Misi
Ruth Parker and Miss Ethel
Merck, served delicious ice cream
and cake.
A most enjoyable feature at the
close of the meeting was the mov
ing picture shown by Mr. Dennis,
having been made while on var
ious trips taken by Mr. and Mrs
Dennis.

Wesleyan Club of Covington and
Oxford Meets With Mrs. Stillwell
The Wesleyan Club meeting o’
the Covington and Oxford Alum
nae marked an interesting event
of the past week. Mrs. Warren
Stillwell was the hostess for the
occasion.
The feature of the
entertainment was the memoirs of
by-gone Wesleyan days as given
by Mrs. Addie Singleton Bran
ham of the class of 1880, and Mrs
Susie Bonnell Stone, of the class
of 1882. Mrs. Stone is the daugh
ter of the former president, J. M.
Bonnell, of Wesleyan. President
