Baptist Church Holds Mission Study
The Woman’s Missionary Socie
ty of the Baptist church held their
second mission study class of the
year, at the church on Friday,
Sept. 30, the morning session be
ginning at 10:30 o’clock. Mrs. W.
D. Travis President, introduced
those present. Rev. Walker Combs
conducted the devotional. Mrs. A.
S. Hopkins, mission study chair
man introduced Miss Janice Sin
gleton, corresponding secretary of
the Ga. W. M. U. who taught

Bridge Club On Tuesday Afternoon
Miss Julia Aiken entertained
members of her bridge club at a
lovely party on Tuesday afternoon
at her home on Monticello

Attracting interest in Covington
is the anouncement of the marri
age of Miss Ann Montgomery
Taylor, to Homer T. Parks, of
Henderson, Kentucky, which was
solemnized Saturday, September
21st.
The bride, a former resident of
the book, “Stewardship Applied to
Missions” by Dr. J. B. Lawrence.
At the noon hour lunch was
served in the annex and this kind
of fellowship was greatly enjoy
ed. Before assembling for the af
ternoon session, business meetings
of the three circles were held in
separate rooms.
The attendance on this occasion
was most gratifying and all who
came felt that the time was well
spent.

Red Cross Relief Knitting Circle
Elects Chairman At Recent Meeting
A call meeting of the Red Cross
Relief knitting circle was held at
the heme of Mrs. J. E. Hutchins
on Floyd Street last week.
The object of the meeting was
to vote on the aceptance of a quota
to be sen in by December 31st
by the Circle and others inter
ested and lect chairmen to func
tion in various capacities.
The quota to be met includes
knitted garments, crocheted
shawls, layettes, hospital jackets
and simple cloth garments for men,
women and children. Many have
finished knitted articles or have
them in the making. Those work
ing in the knitting circle are:

The Epworth League of Love
joy church, held their weekly
meeting, Sunday evening at 7:30.
The program Leaders were placed
in two groups by Pres. Clifford
Malcolm. Group No. 1, Emma
Johnson and Barnard Loyd.
Group No. 2, Minerva Johnson and
Charles Piper.
Each group selected the mem
bers for their sides. At the end of
each month, the group that has
the best attendance will be enter
tained by the losing group.

The regular meeting of the Flint
Hill Woman’s Club met at the club
house on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with
21 present. The meeting was call
ed to order by the President, Mrs.

Plans were discussed in regard
to the fair, and a committee ap
pointed to decide definitely as to

Club At Her Home In Madison
Mrs. S. C. Candler was hostess
at a bridge party on Thursday af
ternoon at her home in Madison,
at which time she entertained
members of her club and a few

The regular Thursday afternoon
meeting of the Knitting Circle
was held last week at the home of
Mrs. R. H. Patterson on Floyd
Street. Seventeen members were
present. During the afternoon iced
. drinks were served by the hostess

Minerva Johnson, Anne Malcolm
Helen Johnson, Myrtle Parish, and
Hilda Malcolm.
All the members and several
visitors were present. The mem
bers planned a marshmellow Roast
for Friday night Oct. 4, on the
lawn of Miss Anne Malcolm’s
home, each member may bring
one visitor.
All members are urged to be
present each Sunday evening, and
visitors are especially welcomed.
After the business session, the
meeting was turned over to Miss
Eddy Ross, who gave some very
interesting and helpful information
on “Improving your Bed room”.
During the social hour a very
interesting contest was enjoyed
with Misses Luna Mae Ellington
and Louise Jones, Mesdames
George T. Berry and J. T. Brooks
winning the prizes.
