“By day I grace the livingroom as a smartly tailored Sofa, proudly
conscious of admiring glances and applauding statements from
those who lounge upon my deeply upholstered cushions. By
night, I change in a jiffy, by one simple motion, to a luxurious
bed for two. Truly, I live a double life and give my owner double
service for the thrifty dollars that went to buy me!
If the Red Cross “Pickwick” could speak, we are sure those are
the words which would best express the sentiments of this sen
sational new Red Cross value. See it today at this store. Notice
the superb welt-seam tailoring. Test the extra deep, tempered
coil constiuction; the full-size sleeping surface, completely cov
ered without break. The “Pickwick” is just one of our full line
a styled for
of new Rtd Cross Sofa Beds and Studio Couches,
modern living, now on display for your selection.

Recently, Col. Donovan
taking issue with- Charles A. Lind
bergh, Senator Burton K. Wheeler
of Montana, and President Robert
M. Hutchins of the University of
Chicago on the question of the
Nazis' threat to American freedom.
In an address at Atlantic City be
fore 10,000 delegates to the conven
tion of the General Federation of
Women’s Clubs, the twice-deco
rated officer of New York’s "Old
Sixty-Ninth" warned that ’’Ger
manv already has the right under
the armistice terms with Fiance to
establish her air bases at Martini
que (about 300 miles north of Vene
zuela), and for all the United
States knows, it may be that the
Nazis has already done that very
thing.”
Tell Britain the Truth
Speaking of American aid for
Britain, Col. Donovan said that “if
we are going to help England, we
ought to be prepared to get useles; sup
plies to her, otherwise it is
and cruel gesture, and if we are
not prepared to run that risk, we
ought to be on the level with Eng
land and tell her we are through.’

tion in France during 1917-18. He

Honor by the French Government,
from which he also received the
