I wonder how many of us are
going to do something someday?
Sombody worth knowing? Some
body who at just the mention of
our name will change the com

situation into a different one en

One is inclined to look at a
small child, or even better per
haps, use his own self as an ex

perhaps smiling and with eyes
glistening looked at Daddy and
raid. “Someday, I'm going to be
just like my Dad.” Or maybe a
little girl will voice the opinion
that someday she is going to be
like her teacher.
Maybe you haven't stopped to
think about it but just about ev

Sitting and waiting is a big job.
It requires patience, unwavering
patience. Or will you give it all
up in a month or so even if your
patience holds out that long.
Why wait for someday? Why
not begin by making today some
day and start preparing yourself
for that which you are waiting
for someday? Just do the best
you can with what you already
have. Each day brings us a little
bit closer to our someday. The
passing of each night means one
less night till someday and the
dawn of each day’s arrival is an
opportunity to take a step toward
achieving our goal.
Do not clump today. Tomorrow
you will be too weak to start

Vacation School
Exercises Friday
Vacation Bible School exercises
will be held Friday night at 7:30
in the Porter Memorial Gymnas
ium.
These exercises will include va
rious recitations from the differ
ent groups and a display of the
handicraft that the groups have
been working on for the past ten
days.
Each boy and girl who has at
tended the school at least nine
days out of ten will receive a
beautiful certificate and if they
attended Sunday School last Sun
day, a gold star will be added in
the corner of the certificate.
The public is invited to attend
these exercises and see the work
on exhibit, that the boys and
girls have prepared for inspection.

Hello Folks. This week finds
j us a little bit wiser—that is, as
! I far as COWS are concerned
Seems as if Mrs. Annie L-ee Day’s
cow was stricken with some sort
of a malady the other day. so she
invited us to go with her to see
Dr. Wist, the Veterinarian to see
what we could see. Well, he gave I
us a big bag of cow pills and the
first five lessons on cow fever
and a cow s metabolism—or ev
er what it is. Also cow-tail split
dng and all that sort of thing
Must have been pretty good ad- I
v ><* and pills too, Dr. Wise, cause
we saw Miss Annie Saturday and
she said ,he cow was fine ... FOR
THOUGHT ... One thing ONLY
is certain. That is that nothing
is certain. If that statement is
true it is false because if it is cer
tain that nothing is certain, then .
there is a certainty! . . . Swiped
from Ripley . . . Now read it j
again more slowly and maybe
you'll know for certain! . . .;
ACADEMY AWARD STORY . .
Mrs. Day told us this one—in fact ;
she seems to always be the basis
of these academy award stories
- . . Says Mrs. Day to Dr. Travis
visiting out at Porterdale. "Well,
Dr. Travis, what's the COVING
TON news?” . . Dr. Travis-”A
dollar and a half a year, I think”
\ . . Just Prattle . . . Scoop Stat
ham was almost minus a good
golf club last week ... If Scoop
seems to be very formal and bus- !
iness-like when you meet him
nowadays its because he's hand
ling the Club’s correspondence
and has written so many business
letters lately he addresses rvnrv
one as Dear Sir, etc. ... As we
don’t have a phone and the ma
ternity clinic is only a few steps
from our house we take
phone calls there which puts us
in a very embarrassing position
sometimes! . . . Now we know
why Dub Smith’s hair always
looks so nice. He stops every
few minutes while at work to
comb it! . . . Our old pal, Speed
Rye was in town over the week
end. “Flash,” she says, “You’re
getting pretty deep, writing that
editorial stuff aren't you?” . .
Speed is responsible for that
Flash in our name . . . Virginia
and Louis are a notable
twosome now. Well I never! . . .
We would lik“ to express our sym
pathy to the Hewell family in the
loss of their grandmother . . . It’s
good to see our old ,, pal. , John
I Bedenbaugh around again . .
