Christian Service Holds Meeting
The Woman's Society of Chris
tian Service met on Monday af
ternoon, July 7, at the First Meth
odist Church.
Mrs. S. L. Waites, presided. The
opening song was, "Lead on O
King Eternal,” after which Mrs.
Waites led in prayer. Minutes of
last meeting were read by the sec
tetary.
There were no reports from the
treasurer or coresponding secre
tary.
Mrs. Will Cook, Christian So
eial Relations leader, asked for a
report from the colored girl, whom
the society sent to Payne College.

training and her report was full

held their reunion at his home

Mr. Piper is 83 years old, has

Wife passed away ten years ago.
This is a very prominent family
and well known in Newton Co'un
ty.

The Hays District Woman’s
Club held their July meeting at
the Club House Wednesday after
noon, July 2, with Mrs. G. A. Mad
dox and Mrs. J. W. Johnston as

The president, Mrs. J. M. Aiker,
called the meeting to order at 3:00

devotional. Twenty-two members
answered the roll call. The presi

Annual Reunion July Fourth
On Friday, July 4th., the fam
ily of Mrs. W. C. Jones of Oxford
met at Prospect, their old home
place, for a reunion. AIL nine of
the children and eleven grand
children were present.
At the noon hour a delicious
picnic lunch was served. .

day was the bridge-luncheon giv
en by Mrs. Summers at her home
on Monticello Street, at
