We called on Mr and Mrs. Jim
Ellis whose home is near. Mrs

very happy as her children had
spent the day with her and pre
pared a lovely birthday dinner in
celebration of her seventy-eigth
birthday Mrs. Eiiis owns a dining
table which was made by Mrs
Calvert's grandfather and the top
1 is made of only two planks, each
twenty inches wide. Square nails
being used in its construction.
Mr. Calvert has an avocation of
making furniture by hand and
has made a great many cedar
chests, cedar beds, ladder-back
chairs and other pieces of . furni- .
ture for his home and his friends.
