The Wrigley sign in New York
may be the largest electric one
in the world, but the little bulb
in the wrought-iron lamp over the
door at “Keep-Step Farm’’ shed a
welcome light unequalled on
Times Square to the farmer and
his wife who had been absent from
Harr’s Quarters for a week. Mr.
Cunningham, State 4-H Club lead
and his assistant, Miss Emmie
'son, selected me as a 4-H mem
’s mother to testify before the
rricultural Committee of the
House of Representatives as to the
importance of 4-H club work and
ask for passage of H. R. 4530—a
bill to promote the National De
fense and preparedness through
the further development of 4-H
clubs and other extension work
with rural youths, and for other
purposes.
The trip included three days at
the Willard Hotel with others
from over the nation who have
the interest of 4-H club work at
heart. There were two 4-H girls
and', two 4-H boys, a leader, a
young mother who had been a 4-H
girl, a successful young farmer
from South Carolina, formerly a
4-H boy, the president of the New
York State group of leaders, ex
tension leader from Nebraska, and
others.
Mrs. O. W. Dynes, Illinois, for
