hip. She was taken to Emory j
University in Atlanta and is doing
as well as could be expected at,
this writing.
There will be preaching at New
Rocky Creek Sunday, Dec. 7, at
11 o'clock, by the pastor, Rev.
Paul Gresham, of Decatur. The
deacons and W. M, U. will have
charge of the evening services be
ginning at 7 o’clock. Everyone
has a special invitation to attend
these services.
Mrs. Ray Stone and son, Ted,
spent the week-end in Augusta,
with Mr. Stone.
Mrs. C. O. Aaron was spend

in a Dominion-wide campaign. The scrap is sorted and then hauled by
railway, ship and truck to unloading centers like thin where it is malted
down to provide metal for gun* and tanks and the many othar implement*
of war on which Canadians are spending about 40 cant* out of every
dollar they earn.

Farm Women

farm home products, will be held
m the curb market Dec. 15 to 20.

hostess fer each day. This project
is designed to give the Home Dem
onstration Club women and 4-H
girls a means of earning some
Christmas money. The patronage
in the past years has been splen
did and the continued response
of our Covington and Newton
County friends is anticipated.
Miss Eddye Ross, home demon
stration agent, is in Athens for
the agents’ conference and will
be greatly missed from the club 1
meetings. Miss Grace Cook is in
her office and will be happy to :
assist the club chairmen in get
ting pregram material.
We canned two quarters of beef j
at the Oxford canning plant this
week ;
Mr. Coleman said that the plant!
would be closed during t h e j j
Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs.
T. C. Parker, and their sons, and
Mr. James Knight also canned
meat. Several here inquired about
canning pork as we had only men
tioned beef so let me add that
pork may be canned but that the
plant does not have equipment
for frying. The cost of the cans
and furnishing the fuel (either
wood from the £arm or coal) is
on, y expense,
On Saturday morning Sailie
and I went to Atlanta to see the
deprrture of the 4-H winners and
extension leaders for Chicago.
They are a splendid group of
Georgia's rural youth, and were
quite excited over the anticipated
