marriage on August 25. On Sat
urday Mrs Roscoe Knox and Mrs.
W. C. Shepherd, of Atlanta and
Gadsden, Ala., will entertain at
seated luncheon at the East Lake
Country Club. Guests will num
ber about fourteen including the
bridal attendants and a few ad
ditional friends.

medal by King George VI of Great
Britain in recognition of her out
standing services to the people of
India during the last year. The
medal was bestowed on June 3, the
birthday anniversary of the late
King George V. It was the second
time Dr. Alexander had received
the honor. The late King George
V. conferred it upon her in 1935.
This Medal is awarded each year
to the man and woman who in the
opinion of Great Britain have
done most for India. During that
year sbe personally performed
more than 400 operations and the
hospital treated some 14 000 per
sons. The hospital is named for
her mother.
