Marilu Pittman Circle Meeting Was
Held At Home Os Mrs. Fincher Nov. 9

PORTERDALE—The Novem
ber meeting of the Marilu Pitt
man Circle of the WSCS of the
Methodist Church was held at
the home of Mrs. C. A. Fincher
Thursday night, November 9,
with 12 members and six visi
tors present.
Mrs. Ruby Statham, chairman,
presided. The meeting was open
ed with the group singing “Jesus
Is All The World To Me.”

Held Two Meetings At Porterdale
PORTERDALE—The Morning
Circle of the Presbyterian Wo
men of the Church met in the
home of Mrs. Theron Curtis, on
Spruce St., Tuesday morning of
last week with 13 ladies present.
Tn the order of business, the
treasurer announced that S3O had
been given to the building com
mittee.
The circle decided to assist in
the work of the Stuart Robinson
School by answering their re
quest for out-grown or discarded
clothing. Mrs. Whatley Curtis and
Mrs. Madeline Henry were ask
ed to serve on the committee to
gather these clothes and to mail
them.
Mrs. Robert Higginhotham,’
president, opened the meeting
with prayer and Mrs. Theron
Curtis brought a splendid de
votional on “The Lord’s Pray
er.
A round-table discussion was
held on the subject of evangelism,
what it is, and the part each one
has in this work in the church
and community.
Mrs.Thurmond, from Rabun
Gap, who was visiting her sis
er, Mrs. Freeman, was a guest
at the meeting.
At the conclusion of the meet
ing, Mrs. Curtis served sand
wiches, cake, coffee and soft
drinks.

ing, refreshments were served
by the hostess.

NIGHT MEETING
Mrs. F. Sidney Anderspn was
hostess for the meeting of the
Women of the Church when they
met for the first time in the at
tractive Ladies Lounge in the
new Presbyterian church Tues
day night.
Mrs. Dorothy Higginbotham
opened the meeting with prayer.
Mrs. Effie Boyd presided over
the business session. A letter was
read from Howard Lucas, the boy
at Thornwell Orphanage, that the
women are clothing, thanking
them for the box they recently
sent him. A letter of appreciation
from the m, tron of the orphanage
was also read.
A Christmas program will be
presented tat the next meeting,
December 12. it was announced.
Following the business dis
cussion, Mrs. Theron Curtis gave
a lovely devotional on “The
Lord’s Prayer.”
The Rev. Ar.derson led a round
—table discussion on evangelism
in which there was a great deal
of interest and enthusiasm.
During the social hour the
hostess served cake and coffee to
19 members and four visitors
who attended the meeting.
