UPLIFT for Toda?
By BERNARD VIA JR.
We usually think of sainte as
persons who through long years
have struggled with life mani
festing a strong faith. They seem
to be the ones who were al
most perfect . Artists have paint
ed halos about their heeds elev
ating them above the ordinary
people about them.
Bishop Moule has jrivea a dif
ferent and tar more practical
definition when he says, “a
saint, is a man who is sweet at
home.” Os course, that will ap
ply to women and children as
well. The definition seems to
bring sainthood within the
reach of every one Yet. bo be
sweet at home a# the time is
just about the hardest test of
all. Let the light of love shine
brightly and continuously at
home and every path will have
a glow that will prevent feet
from stumbling.
Sometimes we forget that
sweetness at home is a happiness
to produce and not just some
thing to be expected from
others. If you are kind and
gentle it helps each member of
the family to be loving. It’s
worth trying—it will help to
make saints, for we are “called
to be samts.”

the chin area. Do just the opposite
if there is a prominent double chm.
The latter show up because they
catch the light.
Round faces should •be played
down as much as possible so use a
darker foundation than the skin
color. Avoid using rouge in circles
and do not give the eyebrows a
semi-circle arch. The mouth
should be made up wide enough
so there is no suggestion of a pout.
Heart-shaped faces do well with
the natural eyebrow line. Blend
the rouge from a high cheekbone
point toward the temple, and light
en as it’s carried down. Avoid
rouge below the center of the
cheek.’ Do not broaden 4he fore
head with an improperly styled
hair-do.
Those with long, heavy-jawed
faces need the rouge applied in
long, sweeping strokes away from
the nose, blending in a circle m the
cheek center with a very light hue
of the rouge Natural eyebrow
lines should be emphasized but
never exaggerated.
When wearing eye shadow it
should come above the lashes to
frame the eyes, with the shadow
extended toward the brow on the
outside only. Lip corners should
be filled with color to modify
heaviness of ,ie jaws. •
Here are Aids
To Improve Mouth
Personality is reflected in the ap
pearance of the mouth. If you’ve
a tendency to sulk and pout, the
mouth reveal* it with a pouty or
turned down look of the lips.
Puckering, twitching and a sullen
look are frequently reflected in the
way the lips are set.
You can remedy much of the ex
pression of the mouth by acquiring
a healthy disposition. If any of the
above faults are yours, study and
I correct your frame of mind or, in
other words, mental health.
W the actual lips themselves are
somewhat faulty in their propor
' tions, lipstick applied expertly can
. do much to change this When the
, lips themselves are within normal
proportions, lipstick should be used
•o highlight and dramatize them,
as is done with ah good features
; that you have.
Make thick lips appear thinner
by using color toward the center,
blending it lightly toward the
sides.
Thin lips ean appear more full
if roti use rather bright lipstick,
applying ever the entire lip sur
face. If necessary, extend the lips
■ just slightly, outlining the exten
sion first, then filling in with a
brush.
Do you have a wide mouth ? Con
centrate the hpsttck at the center
nt the lips.
Is a straight upper lip your prob
lem? Sketch in contour to make
the Wp more attractive and fill in
with brush.
It's not difficult to use a brush
in applymg lipstick. A little prac
tice wiU do the work very nicely.
Uso Bye Make-Up
Sparingly m Accent
Ever should never give the ap
pearance of looking “made up”
Any eye make-up should be used
-parmgiy and only ae an accent,
otherwise it may mar the appear
ance, M nt looks obvious, this
comes from using too much mas
cara, eye pencil or shadow.
Brown m these various eye aids
to beauty may be a better shade
for you than black, especially if
you're fair. Blue, orchid and green
shade* >n eye shadow are used
mostly for evening when you san
si, nd a brt more color.
Never try to change the natural
eyebrow line. Yow may want to
straighten the Mne and thus phtek
out stray hair*, but don’t try to
slant the brows if they tend in
more of an areh.
