avoid delay in receiving their
education and training benefits
if they have copies, made of their
report of separation -(Form DD
214) papers befoije the original
* sent to the Armed Services
for mustering-out payments.
For most VA administered
benefits, pho tests Us or certified
copies of discharge or separation
papers are acea<pfablie. One ex
ception is the VA-guaranteed
GI loans. Veteram« applying for
a Certificate of Eligibility for
G 4 loeew mitt present their
original discharge or separation
paperfl which trill be endorsed
and returned tip the veteran.
Barrett stated that veterans
| should make sure in submitting
photostatic or certified copies of
discharge or separation papers
that they submit copies of both
sides of the document and not
just the front.
Veterans who have been re
leased by the Reserve* since
June 27, 1950, should submit
their report of separation or
I certificate of service, since they
j do not get discharge papers.
I Veterans planning to attend
I school under the Korean GI
Bill are urged to apply for Cer
। tificat.es of Eligibility immediate
ly. Barrett stressed that those
veterans starting to school with
out first obtaining such certifi
cates will receive payments only
from the date of receipt of the
application for the Certificate.
Barrett invited eligible persons
to call at the nearest branch of
fice of the State Department I
of Veterans Service for further
information and assistance. Vet-

of the office at Covington.
