In the presence of a few close
friends and relatives, Miss La-
Velle Ellington, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Tom Ellington, of
Oxford, became the bride of
George E McCuller. of Covington
and formerly of Fitzgerald, son
of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McCuller,
of Fitzgerald. December 24, at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B.
Lewis. The Rev. F. Sidney An
derson, pastor of the Porterdale
Presbyterian Church, officiated.
Mrs. McCuller attended Pal

Miss Mignon Jennie Brown Became
Bride Os Brannon Ridings December 27
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
James 3. Gardner Jr. was the
scene December 27 of the marri
age of their niece, Miss Mignon
Jennie Brown, to Brannon Wood
Ridings, of Nelson. The Rev.
Charles 0. Erickson, of Demorest,
performed the ceremony.
Following the ceremony the
bride’s mother entertained at a
reception in the dining room.
Serving as the maid of honor
was Miss Dorothy Lane, of
Auburndale, Mississippi. Miss
Miriam Gardner was junior
bridesmaid. Richard Fowler, of
Cuthbert, was best man.

age by her uncle, James Gardner

For Christmas Party At Alford Home
The WMS of Calvary Baptist
Church held the monthly meet
ing and Christmas program Dec.
8 at the home of Mrs. J. I. Al
ford at 6 P.M.
The meeting was called to or
der by the president, Mrs. Tilman
Niblett. Mrs. N. C. Sammons
led in prayer and the permanent
and yearly watchwords were re
peated in unison.
Reports of all counselors, com
munity missions report, and the
treasurer’s report were given. A
collection of $65.50 was taken for
Morning Group Os Porterdale Club
Held Christmas Meeting Dec. J 6th
PORTERDALE — Twenty-one
members and four visitors at
tended the Christmas meeting
of the Morning Division of the
Porterdale Woman’s Club Tues
day, December 16, at ten o'clock.
Mrs. Lois Whitfield, a visitor
from the night division, was
awarded the hostess prize.
The singing of Christmas ca
rols opened the meeting. The
Rev. F. S. Anderson Jr. brought
a timely devotional from the
book of Colossians.
Mrs. Euphie Christian acted as
secretary in the absence of Mrs.
Mina Jo. Hodge. An encourag
ing treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Sadie Mays. Mrs. Eu
phie Christian and Miss Ethel
Relcher were appointed to pur
chase a gift for Miss Mary
Brown.
Christmas decorating rules for
the contest sponsored by the
Civic Improvement Committee
were announced to the group.
Each person was urged to at
tend the Community Christmas
Tree at the Porter Gymnasium.

Inc . of Atlanta.
Mr. Ridings received his B. S.
degree from Piedmont College in
1952. He was a member of J. S.
Green, President of P. Club. At
present he is in the Air Force,
stationed at Keesler Field, Biloxi,
Mississippi.

Dance For Elks
Covington Elks welcomed the
New Year with a dance at the
Elks Home on Rainbow Lake.
.Jack Chapman and his orchestra
provided music for dancing
from 9 to 1 o'clock.
A regular meeting of the lodge
will be held at Rainbow' Lake
tonight, starting at 7:30 P. M.
