very entertaining. Little Karen

Claus”, accompanied by Mrs. Mil
ford Johnson
Four second - graders, Betty
' Faith Jaynes. Monty Laster, Bob
Shaw, and Terry Rutledge sang,
"All I Want For Christmas is My
Two Front Teeth” in a delightful
[way. Ann Cason made a Christ
mas pie from holly, candies, tin-
I sei. toys, and snow. Everyone
joined in singing “Joy to the
World” and “White Christmas".

received the hostess prize.

banquet of the Cancer Associa
ti<>n of Newton County was given
by Mrs. J. B. Mitchell. She urged 1
complete and whole-hearted sup
port of any projects for cancer
research.
Gratitude was expressed tn the
committee who prepared the float

sored by the Covington Business I

Mrs. J. W. King reported that'
i four ladies attended the county
wide Home Demonstration Club

Civic Improvement Committee,

Each person was urged to place

[fication of the homes of Porter

Emphasis was placed upon the
announcement of the Community
Christmas tree at the Porter I
; Gymnasium.
A highlight of the meeting was
the challenge presented to the [
I members by B. B. Snow, Agent
■ at Porterdale, to sponsor the Cub
i Scouts in Porterdale. Using the ■
i Biblical story of the talents. Mr.
Snow spoke emphatically of the
. talents which could and should
be used for the eligible youngs
ters of eight through ten years of
[ age in the community. The mem
bers of the club voted unanimous- 1
' ly to be the sponsoring institu
, tion for the Cub Scouts in Porter
dale.
An advisory committee, with
Mrs. J. B. Mitchell as chair- J
i man, was appointed by Mrs.
Grove. Those to serve with her
are: Miss Maud King, Mrs.
Catherine Wilkerson, Mrs. Emory
Shaw, Mrs. Bill Crowell, Mrs.
Ben Bennett, and« Mrs. James
Brooks. Mr. Snow promised co
operation and counsel *f the New
ton - Rockdale District Scout
Leaders.
The calendar project was dis
cussed by Mrs. Grady Bowden.
