50 MUCH OF BEAUTY
By MAMIE OZBURN ODUM ,
There’s beauty found in fleeting things,'
The crimson flash of redhird wings,
The listening fawn in hidden grass,’
A baby smile, a little lass.
Gray.squirrels playing in a tree.
The noiseless sails of ships at sea,
There’s beauty in a craig of rock,
A row of nodding hollyhock;
A tall and stately long-leaf pine,
Baby hands content in mine,
There’s beauty in a home of love,
A trust in higher things above,
Os give and take that true love brings,
There’s beauty found in homey-things.

Vets Warned
Not To Let
Policy Lapse
Veterans who took out term
insurance during the year 1945
। should be careful not to let their
insurance expire, now that their
policies are reaching the end of
their eight year period, William
K. Barrett, director of the State
Department of Veterans Service,
said this week.
Any veterans wh otook out in
surance after December 31, 1945, ;
has a five year term period not
eight. He should also be care
ful not to let the expiration slip
up on him. These warnings are
, necessary since the passage of
Public Law 23 states that, “any
NSLI that expires cannot be
I reinstated.” World War I and II
veterans cannot purchase new in
surance unless they reenter the
Aimed Forces. Incidentally, there
5 a difference between lapse and
expire. Your insurance may lapse
for nonpayment of premiums any
time within the term period
and may be reinstated but if the
.premium for the last month of
the term period is not paid the
insurance expires and may not be
reinstated.
Public Law 23. was enacted
April 25. 1951. in order to protect
Korean Veterans, or in fact any
member of the Armed Forces.
From an insurance standpoint if
. the soldier did not have NSLI, he
is covered for $10,00(1 while on
active duty and 120 days after
separation. This is “free” in
; surance while in service but may
be continued after separation if
the veteran applies and pays pre
miums within 120 days.
Those who had NSLI term in
| surance when they went back in
to service and were on, waiver
may reinstate all or any part of
it without a physical examination
within 120 days after separation.
All that is necessary is to send
a premium to: VA District Office,
I 441-449 West Peachtree Street,
Atlanta 3. Georgia.
Those who had term insurance
that was not in force when they
j went back in service but the in
, surance expired while on active
duty may, within 120 days after
separation, apply for the same
amount or less by taking a phy
; sical examination.
Barrett invited interested per
i sons to come by the nearest
branch office of the State Depart
ment of Veterans Service for
, further information. The nearest
branch office is located at Cov- [
i ington Courthouse and th* man- '
ager of the office is Mrs. Dorothy
Cason.
