Ladies Bible Class Os Salem Church
Held Meeting Al The Church Wed.
The Ladies Bible Class of
Salejn Church met at the church
Wednesday afternoon of last
week at 4 o'clock for their reg
ular monthly business and social
meeting, with 24 ladies present.
Mrs. Charlie Berry was in
charge of the devotional and
Mrs. Gibson Stallsworth, presi
dent of the class, presided over
the business session.
A new Secret Pal Club was
formed and letters have been
mailed to each member telling

Morning Group Os Woman's Club Hold
Monthly Meeting In Clubroom Jan. 20
PORTERDALE—The January
meeting of the Morning Division
of the Porterdale Woman's Club
was held Tuesday, January 20.
at ten o’clock. Nineteen members
and two visitors were present.
The meeting was opened with
singing "Onward Christian Sol-'
diers”.
Two new members were wel
comed into club membership
T^ey were Mrs. Minnie Goodman
end Mrs. Frances McClure.
A report was made on the
recent sale of stationery. Mrs.
Euphie Christian conducted a
discussion of projects which the

She gave a very comprehensive
talk on Africa, the habits and
religion of the natives The meet
ing was closed with prayer.
Delightful refreshments were
served by the hostess during
the social hour

that Sweet-aire deodorant, greet
ing cards, and stationery be order
ed and sold by the club members.
An interesting letter from Miss
Mary Brown was enioyed by
each person.
A list of names of 'embers

by the secretary to remember
them.
Due to the absence of the

gave the treasurer's report. Mrs.

Frank Campbel! collected dues
for Mrs. Sadie Mays, the treas
urer.
Mrs. Lillian Bowden, general
project chairman for the Wo
man's Club, visited the meeting.
Mrs. Bowden brought calendars
to be sold by the club and ex
plained details for obtaining
sales.
Mrs. Christine Capel! was in
troduced as a Den Mother to
serve in the Cub Scout work in
Porterdale.
A devotional entitled. “On Be
ing Neighborly”, was given by
Miss Mae Hardman. The Biblical
story of the Good Samaritan was
the basis for Miss Hardman's
message.
At the close of the meeting,
some of the members enjoyed
two games of bingn under the
supervision of Mrs. Euphie
Christian.
Delicious refreshments were
sc-rved by Miss Maud King, as
sted by Miss Patsy Anderson.

Honored On Birthday
PORTERDALE — Carol Jean
Horton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs
J. T Horton was honored with a
party January 17, at her home on
Elm Street, to celebrate her birth
day. Many of her little friends
were invited to share in this hap
py occasion with her.
