Last Rites Held
Bert L. W’lbanks, 72, of New
born, died at his residence Oct
ober 25 after several months ill
ness. Last rites were conducted
Wednesday, October 27, at 2
p. m. at the Shiloh Baptist church
with the Rev. Charles Evans, of
ficiating. Interment was in the
churchyard.
He is survived bv his wife.
Mrs. Della Wilbanks of New
born; two sons, Hershell and
James Wilbanks of Newborn;
four daughters, Mrs. Cordie Gil
man and Mrs. Annie Mae Brock,
both of Newborn; Mrs. Saralene
Barnes of Porterdale. Mrs. Paul

Girl Scouts Have
Camporee to Work
On Pioneer Badge
The Girl Scouts of Troop 6 en
gaged in a two-night camporee i
over the weekend to earn their
Pioneer Badge in Scouting. The '
location of the camporee was the
property of J. T. McKay near
Almon. The girls set up their own
camp, planned, bought and pre
pared their meals.

er of Troop 6, Mrs. S. J. Morcock,
in supervising the camp. Mrs.
Building. Mrs. Vera Hooten,

Meyer gave an interesting d&
monstration in lashing as part of
the camp program. The campfire
program in the evenings was an
enjoyable part of the outdoor
experience.
The girls of Troop 6 who parti
cipated in the camp were Hannan
Reynolds, Mozelle Biggers, Lau
rie Dial, Diane Wright, Lucy
Floyd Morcock, Hariette John
son and Linda Bledsoe. The pa
rents of the girls visited the camp
at intervals during the weekend.
