Confused the Issue! J Srll?
* if HTr ■
At the time of the Reformation, some of the
reformers got mixed up.
Because the Reformation was aimed at the Church
of Rome, quite a few of the reformers confused the
issue between what was distinctly Roman and what
was the faith and practice of the ancient Christian
Church.
In their confusion, they decided that much of the
beauty in worship, and in churches w as not Christian.
The result in many cases was barren churches, and
services of worship that lacked order and beauty.
We Episcopalians think that was wrong. Through
the years, we have striven to retain the beauty and
dignity of our churches and of our services. That w»
were partly right is now evident. In recent years,
there has been a gradual return in many other de
nominations to liturgical services, and in making
churches beautiful by the use of age-old Christian
symbols.
**
Our services, set forth in the Book of Common
Prayer, have retained their ancient beauty. Visit the
Episcopal Church near you soon. You’ll leave feeling
