Garden Club Speaker Next Wednesday
Ihe November meeting of the
Miniature Garden Club will have
as its guest speaker, Mrs. Paul
T Webb of Atlanta. Mrs. Webb
will speak on “Christmas Decor
ations,” and how to assemble
them.
The meeting will be held at
the home of Mrs. Hugh Harris on
Wednesday afternoon, November
21 at 3 o’clock. Co-hostesses will
be Mrs, Mark Davis and Mrs.
John Fuller.
The November arrangement
theme is “We Give Thanks,” a

| Julia Adams Sixth Birthday Celebrated

The home of the Ralph Adams
in Newborn was the scene of
a festive occasion on Friday af
ternoon, when they entertained
at a party in honor of their
daughter, Julia’s sixth birthday.
The autumnal color theme was
accentuated with artistic ar
tistic arrangements of yellow
chrysanthemums in the living
room and den, which were
thrown together for entertaining.
The guests, who assembled at
three o’clock, were carried to
the Rutledge R. R. station,
where they boarded the train
for the thirty minute trip to Cov
ington. This was intriguing for
the group as a whole, since only
two memebrs of the party had
ever ridden on a train previous
ly-

nic fare, was served with soft
drinks. The color and party
themes were highlighted in the
dining room, where guests were
invited for the dessert course.
The dining table, overlaid with
white, featured as its centerpiece,
the large white embossed birth
day cake, topped with yellow
candles, and base garlanded with
yellow pompon chrysanthemums,
which was served with ice
cream. Birthday motif plates and
napkins, colorful blow-out whis
tles, candy and multi-colored
balloons used as favors, com
pleted the attractive appoint
ments.
Included in the guest list were:

Florence and Eugenia Robert
son, Sandra Brown, Kathy Hit
chcock, Kathy Dennis, Jan Hit

met at the library Tuesday after
noon with a very good attend- 1
ance.
Mrs. R. H. Patterson, Ist vice
president, presided in the absence
of the president, Mrs. Hugh King.
After the usual opening pro
i cedure, a short business session
was held. Reports from officers
were called for Mrs. R. W. Os
born, chairman of a committee,
reported that the stove given the
Woman’s Club by Mr. and Mrs.
Paul David Moffett had been
checked and cleaned by Mr. Rape
and installed in the library
kitchen. The club is deeply
grateful for this gift.
Resolutions in memory of Mrs.
G. W. Caldwell and Mrs. W. F.
Lee were read, adopted and will
be placed on the minutes of the
club.
