Mrs. Grady Hays Entertains Bridge Club

Members of Mrs. Grady Hays
club enjoyed a delightful after,
noon on Wednesday when Mrs.
Hays entertained at her home,
with a dessert bridge.
Vivid red roses in crystal con
tainers lent themselves effective
ly in colorful, living room ar
rangements; and were also used
as the centerpiece in a green
crystal container on the dining

she was complimented at Almon
Community House on Saturday
evening, with Mesdames James
Guritz, Herman Nelms. Earl
Stallworth and John T. Wallace
as cp-hostesses.

ous setting of the club room. The
gift fable, overlaid with white
satin, held the bevy of gaily
wrapped shower gifts, which con
tributed additional color to the
decorative effect.

Met at Club House November 14th
The Pine Grove Home Demon
stration Club met Wednesday,
November 14. at the Club House.
The meeting was called to order
by singing the club song, follow
ed by Mrs. Elliott’s reading of
the scripture and prayer.
The roll was called and the
treasurers report given. The
nominating committee gave a re
port on the new officers for 1957
who are Mr*. Hugh Hitchcock,
president; Mrs. Elmer Hitchcock,
vice-president; Mrs. J. C. Robert
son, treasurer and Mrs. H. L.
King, secretary.

day night, November 13th. in the
Junior Department of the Church.

Baptist Church Held Mission Study
The WMS of the Calvary Bap
tist Church held a mission study
on japan, Sunday, November 18.

The educational annex was ap
propriately decorated with Jap
anese lanterns, robes, shawls and
pictures from Japan. Those tak
ing part in the study were seat
ed around long tables, which
were centered with interesting
' curioe from Japan and place
I mats about the country. Mrs.
' W. H. Harris gave the first part
,of the book “Japan Advances,”
. bringing out interesting facts
i about Japan’s history and her
j people.
A Japanese dinner was then
served the WMS, GA, and
YWA members, consisting of
baked chicken, oarrots, green
limas, rolls, salad, rice pudding

An intriguing series of wed
ding theme games and contests
was enjoyed prior to the opening
of The gifts.
The guest list included a dozen
intimate friends of the bride-to
be.
The annual Christmas party
was discussed and a committee
named for the planning of the
menu and decorations.
Each member was urged to
attend the County Couneil Christ
mas party to be held Friday, De
cember 7 at Heard Mixon.
Mrs. Malone gave an interest
ing demonstration on Christmas
decorations and also showed
slides concerning them.
Fallowing the close of the
meeting the hostesses, Mrs. L. D.

served a delicious salad plate and
coffee.
