Miniature Garden Club Met Monday,
November 21, Home of Mrs. Hugh Harris
The November meeting of the
Miniature Garden Club was held
at the home of Mrs. Hugh Harris
on Wednesday, November 21. Co
hostesses were Mrs. Mark Davis
and Mrs. John Fuller.
Mrs. Bert Adams, president of
the club, presided and welcomed
the following new members into
the club: Mrs. C. C. King Jr.,
Mrs. Laverne Cowan, Mrs. Jay
Brown and Mrs, Walker Camp
bell. Mrs. P. M. McNiven and
Miss Alice Pratt were welcomed
as visitors.
During the business meeting,
reports were heard from com
mittee . chairmen. The club voted
to give a second contribution to
the Girl Scout Hut.
Covington Service Guild Met Monday
Afternoon Home of Mrs. James Purcell
The November meeting of the
Covington Service Guild was held
Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the
home of Mrs. James Purcell,
with Mrs. J. W. Richardson, Mrs.
John Jernigan, Mrs. P. M. Mc-
Niven and Mrs. Hoke Randall
as co-hostesscs. As the members
arrived, they were served delici
ous refreshment. After a brief
social hour the meeting was call- :
ed to order by the club president, ।
Mrs. Moncey Pratt. The meeting I
opened with the pledge to the i
flag and the club collect.
Mrs. George Hutchinson led
the club members in a devotional
using a Psalm of Thanksgiving
and a Thanksgiving Prayer. Mrs.
J. W. Richardson, program chair

the afternoon, Mrs. Leon Brown
of Atlanta, who is a member of
the Executive Committee of the
Georgia Federation of Woman's
Clubs and also a member of the
Public Affairs Department, work
ing with the Safety Committee i

mentioned speeding, drunk driv
; ing, and fatigue as the chief
causes of highway accidents.
Other aspects of safety relating
to school children, bicycle train
ing, the driver training program,
home safety, and safety at Christ
; mas were discussed by Mrs.
Brown.
During the business session
which followed, the resignation of
Mrs. Herbert Vining was accept
ed-with regret. The minutes were
read end approved and the roll
of club members was called. Mrs.
Al David gave the treasurer's re
port and Mrs. Sam Gainer gave
the report of the Kindergarten
treasurer. Other committee chair
men reporting were Mrs. Frank

gave a very interesting lecture
and study on Christmas Decora
tions, which was enjoyed by all.
The meeting was then adjourn
ed and a delightful social hour
followed with refreshments be
ing served by the hostesses.
Blue ribbons in arrangements
were awarded to Mrs. Mark Davis
and Mrs. Herbert Vining. In hor
ticulture blue ribbon winners
were Mrs. S. L. Hardman, Mrs.
Walker Campbell and Mrs. E.
G. Lassiter Jr. Red ribbons, Mrs.
S. R. Campbell Jr., Mrs. Zig
Callawav and Mrs. Henrv Odum
gave an excellent report of this
endeavor. Mrs. Moncey Pratt re
minded club members to watch
the “Home Show” on WSB-TV
every Monday when news of the
National Federation of ’Women’s
Clubs will be given. The meeting
was adjourned at the conclusion
of the business session.

was centered with a beautiful ar
rangement of white chrysanthe
mums with silver candleholders
bearing burning white tapers
flanking each side.

It is the aim of this circle to
do more and greater things dur
ing the coming year than ever
before. Their aims for advance
ment this new year are some
thing new.
The meeting was closed with
prayer.
Members were delighted with
the white elephant sale to en
rich their treasury at the con
clusion of the formal meeting.
Delicious refreshments were
served to the guests by Mrs.
Norwood.
