Forty-One Attend
Young Adult Class
Porterdale Baptist
1 ORT ERDALE — The enroll
ment of the Young Adult Class
of the Porterdale Baptist climbed
to forty-one at the Sunday School
hour on Sunday, November 25. at
ten o clock. Twenty-seven were
present and welcomed Mr. Char
les Patterson as their visitor.
In gratitude for their many
blessings from God, this class
remembered two shut-in fami
lies at Thanksgiving.

Met Wednesday

Wednesday, November 21. We
missed our president, Sandra Da
vis. Vice-President Lynda Holi
field took charge.
We talked about the party we
are going to have for Christmas
and the things we would do.
Then we were told by our lead
ers how to make corsages for
Christmas. We also welcomed
Sandra Stacks into our troop.

j the bride of Bobby Ray Black,
son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Black,
of Conyers, at the home of the
Rev. Mr. Carl Standard, who per
-1 formed the impressive, double
ring ceremony at eight thirty
o'clock, Saturday, November
24th.

and crimson into burgundy lent
flora] color to the living room
which formed the setting for the
ceremony.
T. W. Maddox of Conyers serv
ed as best man.
The bride who entered with the
groom, wore a platinum blue,
princess style acetate rayon, with
minutely pleated yoke which was
finished with a flat, matching
color velvet bow at the square
neckline. Her costume was com
plemented with a black velvet
bolera; and she wore a white
i carnation corsage.
Mrs. T. W. Maddox, matron of
honor, wore a navy blue gabar
dine suit, with touches of white
lace at the throat. Her accessor
ies were in black.
Mrs. McGiboney chose, for
her daughter’s wedding, a pearl
gray gabardine suit. She wore

Observe Focus Week Series of Meetings

bassadors of the Porterdale Bap
tist Church observed Focus Week
black accessories and a white
carnation corsage.
The groom's mother, Mrs.
Black, W'ore a two piece, char
coal suit in wool sheer, with
black accessories and a white
carnation corsage.
Immediately following the
ceremony, the parents of the
groom were hosts at a small re
ception at their home in Conyers,
honoring the bridal couple.
Colorful blooming begonias and
other potted plants enhanced the
setting for the occasion.
The bride's book was kept by
Mrs. J. T. Wallace, who wore a
black sheer wool skirt and aqua
blouse.
The bride's table was overlaid
with white lace, and centered
with a four tiered white emboss
ed wedding cake, with ornamen
tal frosting designs, which was
topped with a miniature bride
and groom beneath a floral arch
with suspended silver wedding
bell.
Punch was served from a large
crystal bowl by Mrs. Frank Les
ter, who wore a gray gabardine
suit, i
Mrs. Boyce McCullough, attir
ed in a black sheer model, as
sisted in serving the cake.
Mr. and Mrs. Black are tem
porarily making their home with
the parents of the groom in Con
yers, where Mr. Black is a mem
ber of the Post Office personnel.

the group sitting together for the
Morning Worship Service on
Sunday, November. On Monday,
{the boys visited a shut-in and
I carried a tray of fruit. They held
a prayer service in the friend’s
home. Tuesday was the day for
their regular R. A. meeting. A
large group of the boys were at
Prayer Meeting on Wednesday
evening.
The Associational B. T. U.
meeting held at the Porterdale
Baptist Church was well attend
ed by members on Thursday. A
most interesting program, “The
Wedding of Miss B. T' U. and
Mr. Baptist Church”, was pre
sented at this time.
Boys distributed Baptist litera
ture on Friday as their project.
They also sponsored a pantry
shower for an indigent family.
To climax the week’s observ
ances, three ladies of the W.M.S.
prepared a Father-Son Banquet
at which the boys honored their
parents. Mrs. Virgil Norwood,
Mrs. Nina Day, and Mrs. W. T.
Preston were responsible for it.
The Men’s Bible Class and the
Brotherhood of the church spon
sored this event. The R. A. coun
selors, Mr. Preston, Intermedi
ate J. V. Norwood’s Jrs. and
Boys were grateful to the men
। for their interest and efforts in
their behalf.

At our regular meeting on Mon
day, we elected new troop offi
cers to serve for the next three
months. Barbara Morgan is our
new president; Judy Moseley is
vice president and the new flag
bearers are Sara Haynes and
Toni Belief. Marlyne Tate and
Margie Brown are the color
guard, and Brenda Bonner is the
new reporter.
We did not finish electing our

Met Tuesday Afternoon, November 20th

! Girl Reserves, Group No. 1, met
on Tuesday afternoon, November
20, at two o’clock. Mrs. Ellington
'called the roll.
Two of the girls sang a song. ,
Psalm 100 was read for our Scrip- !
ture. Regina Thompson read a
story.
We went to the lunchroom, and
Miss Maud King gave us the
nicest party. We had ice cream,
cake, nuts, and candy for our re
freshments.

The Maud King Girl Reserves,
Group No. 2. met in the music
room on Tuesday afternoon, No
vember 20. Mrs. Loyd’s girls had
a good program. Sherrill Crowell
and Beverly Butler read the
100th Psalm for our devotional.
They led the group in prayer.
Janie Bowman opened the pro
gram which was “The Ugly
Daughter and the Beautiful

Then we were all surprised
when we went to the lunchroom
and found Miss Maud King, who
had a Thanksgiving party for us.
There wre two long tables all
decorated with autumn colored
i plates, Thanksgiving turkey nap
kins, orange and lime sherbet,
' candy, and decorated cakes.
We joined the girls of Group
No. 1 for this happy time. We
enjoyed it very much and were
' I glad that Miss King eould come
to visit us.
