First Methodist Class Hears Interesting
Program Thursday at Home Mrs. Watson
Charles Porter Class of the
First Methodist Church met in
the home of Mrs. G. C. Watson
on Thursday, February 14.
The attractive home, with
bowls of artistically arranged
daffodils, jonquils, March bells
and jasmine, lent a spring-like
atmosphere to the reception
rooms, where the meeting was
held.
Mi's. W. R. Stillwell welcom
ed the guests and one visitor,
Mrs. W. C Wright.
Mrs. Wright offered the open
ing prayer.

Mrs. Graa^Smith gave a beau
tiful devotional. Her subject
"The Master Weaver” was the
story of two pilgrims who came
to the weaver seeking advice
on weaving the tapestry of life.
His answer, make a decision on
what you wish your life to be,
preparation must come, choose
right colors, carefully follow
I chosen pattern, since each small
, deviation willaffect the finished
I product. One pilgrim chose her
pattern, her threads unwisely,
her colors gay and bright, woven
carelessly, her tapestry a disap
pointment.
The other pilgrim, not. trusting
her judgement, followed the ad
vice of the Master. She chose the
beautiful pattern, colors, some
gay, some somber, some light and
some dark, for life is like that
j — some days bring; sunshine,
others shadows. By following her
pattern carefully, the result
brougth “Well done thy good and
faithful servant.” Mrs. Smith

Presbyterian Church During Mar., April
The Reverend E. P. Nichols,
pastor of the Covington Presby
terian Church, has announced
that the months of March and
April have been designated as
“Church Loyalty Season.” The
membership is urged to attend
every Sunday service during
this period. A roll check will
be made at both the morning and
evening services.

Piper's club enjoyed a delightful
afternoon of bridge, when she
was their hostess at her home, on
Thursday afteroon.
A charming "spring in Febru
ary” note was achieved through
out the rooms thrown open for
entertaining, with arangements of
yellow and white narcissi, jon
quils, daffodils, and potted bloom
ing azaleas.
At the conclusion of the games

The Almon Home Demonstra
tion Club met at the club house,
hostesses gave each one present
a Valentine. The guests enjoyed
sharing their message with each
other.
Miss Sallie Mae Cook told the
story of St. Valentine. After
which the guests were invited
into the dining room for re
, freshments.

Zig Callaway and R. R. Fowler,
Jr., club members; and Mrs. Helen
Dickinson, club guest.

The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. Fred Lee
and Mrs. James N. Dobbs gave
the devotional. The roll -was call
ed and the minutes of the last
meeting were read. Mrs. Hinton
Bailey was welcomed as a new
member.
The treasurer’s report was
given and the score cards check
ed. The business session was held
and the club voted to pay their
part on the Kiln, which is being
purchased for the County. Each
member pledged SI.OO to take
care of this.
Mrs. Malone gave a very in
teresting demonstration on Home
Improvement. She told us how
to bottom chairs and make foot
stools.
Social hour was conducted by
the co-hostess, Mrs. Pat Coggins
and Mrs. James N. Dobbs. A Val
lentine contest was held, seeing
who could make the best Valen
tine. The prize was won by Mrs.
Fred Lee and Mrs. C. H. Berry,
Sr. Mrs. Willie Womac was the
other prize winner.
Delicious refreshments were
served.

of a son, Charles Wilson, on Fri
day February 8, at Newton Coun
ty Hospital. Little Charles pa
