Seventh Grade
By Carolyn Mahan
The last days of this school
year are going to be busy
ones.
On May 2nd, we are going
to have field day, which we
are looking forward to. We
hope that some of the pupils
in our room will get to take
part in it.
Alson on May 2nd, at night,
the seventh and eighth grade
party will be held in the
school. It will be from eight
until ten-thirty o’clock.
We are very proud of our
baseball team. They have won
one cut of their two games.
There are four boys from our
room that are on the team.
Their names are Terry Rut
ledge, Biljy Blair, Phil Batch
elor and Johnny McDaniel.

SPRING
by Linda Kaiz
Spring is a happy time of
year for everybody. I like it
because birds are making
nests, trees and flowers are
blooming.
When spring comes we can
play different games than we
do in winter. Spring is a nice
time to take walks and look
at the different kinds of trees
and flowers.
I like spring because it tells
me that summer is near.
Spring is so bright and shiney
after winter.
SPRING
by Evelyn Burney
Spring begins on March 21.
It is not long after this until
you start seeing the first
signs of spring.
In the spring the grass be
gins to turn green, flowers
start to bloom, and the birds
begin to sing. Before we know
it the days are getting longer
and the nights are getting
shorter. Now we can look up
and see the trees sprouting
their new leaves.
Now the days are getting
warmer and you can look out
and see all the boys and girls
laughing, playing and enjoy
ing the pretty sunshine.
SPRING
by Teresa Lane
Spring has warm weather.
, In spring some people go
, swimming if it is warm
enough. Children wear shorts
some days. I think spring
weather is very nice.
In spring children do lots
of things. They can get out
and play games. They can
help plant gardens. They can
play all kinds of ball. Spring
is a nice time.
I like spring because it
brings flowers like violets,
pansies and tulips. It brings
April showers and green grass.
Lots of things grow in spring
that are very beautiful. I like
the beauty of spring.
SPRINGTIME

Yes. this is springtime,

l springtime, and you know
, April showers bring May
■ flowers.
SPRING
bv Helen Parker
Spring is a time when trees
are getting their leaves back
again and flowers are bloom
ing, birds are singing, grass is
growing.
But best of all of this you
can go out doors in the warm
spring and play in the warm
sun and ride your bike. And
sometimes you can go swim
ming.
But what I like is you don’t
have to go to school and get
your lessons like Science,
spelling, arithmetic and health
and that is every thing.
SPRING
by David Clifford
Spring is a beautiful season.
In winter the earth looks dark ,
and dead, but when spring' •
comes everything brightens. ,
The grass is greener and flow- ,
ers begin to bloom. ,
Tn spring you hear many ,
birds sing. They build nests (
in the spring. Many birds fly j
hundreds of miles to build r
nests in the north.
Children like spring too. j
They can play out doors in 5
the warm sunshine. a

SPRING
by Bobby Blalock
One day I went to Mike's |
house. It was winter and the I
ground was covered with ’
snow. He wanted spring to
come so he could play in the
sunshine.
Soon the first day of spring
came and I went back to;
Mike's house. He wouid not'
come out to play in the sun-1
shine. He wanted winter to ■
come so he could play in the 1
snow. He said be was too lazy i
in the summer like the third
grade.
So winter came and 1 went ,
back to Mike’s house. 1 ask- §
ed him why he wasn’t out in ,
the snow, and he said that it *
would be six months before j
spring. So Mike came out and '
played in the snow.
A SPRING PICNIC
by Martha Stinchcomb
On day I went on a picnic
with my mother and father.
We waded in the creek and
climbed trees, then we ate
sandwiches, cake and pies.
We all said we had a good
time and went home.
SPRING
by MarguerKe Allgood
Spring is the time when life
begins again in nature. Birds ।
return from the south. Trees 1
become leafy again and f'nw- •
ers begin to bloom. The farm
er planted his crops. In many
countries the people have fes
tival celebrating spring.
In the spring we like to
play in the sunshine. With no
homework to do. And one
other thing you might do is
go swimming.
But one time you will re
member most is Easter Sun
day, when Jesus arose from
the dead.
WHAT SPRING BRINGS
by Sherrel H.
This is a spring month, the
month is April. April is the
beginning of spring. Spring
brings many wonderful things,
it brings the flowers, sunshine,
the days are getting longer,
nights are getting shorter,
days are getting warmer and
birds are beginning to sing
and build their nest. Spring is
lots of fun.
Spring is the time of year
to plant gardens. People work
hard in gardens, they hoe and
dig in them. Spring brings lots
of good things too. Summer is
lots of fun, we have good
times in the summer.
In the summer T go swim
ming and boat riding. It is
lots of fun. What do you do
in the summer? Spring is a
good time of year.

for broad jumps, soft ball

We are in the middle of our

We got out early last Friday

Thursday, Smiley Burnett put

of his experiences as a boy and

we cried. On Friday Mrs.

The Spring Sparrow
Outside my bedroom window,
the two sparrows flew back and
forth carrying string, twigs,
! grasses and anything else that
1 could b*» used to build a nest.
Spring had come at last and it
was time to build a new neat to
house the eggs and later the
baby birds when hatched. The
two birds worked hard to fin
ish their new home and yet took
care that its location was sec
ret.
Finally, the job was finished,
and one morning I looked out
the window and saw a small
speckled egg in the nest. After
this T watched carefully for the
egg to hatch and the baby bird
to appear. Then one morning
I looked in the nest and there
was the baby bird.
The mother and father again
started flying back and forth,
but this time they were carry
ing worms, crumbs and seeds.
The baby sparrow was always
hungry. His mouth would open
wide when his parents appeared
with more food. My! How fast
that bird grew because all he
did all day was eat and sleep.
Then as the baby bird grew
I older his parents decided it was
| time for him to fly. They spent
hours trying to get him out of
the nest. / * last he made it out
to a limb and after a few bad
starts he learned to fly. The
nest is now empty. For the
spring sparrow has flown away.
—Jeannie Pignolet
In The Spring
Once upon a time in the
; spring a boy was walking
through the woods when he
। heard something. He didn't
■know what it sounded like.
When he went home for sup
per he told his mother about it.
His mother told him “It was the
music of spring air and the
voice of God”.
From then on he went tn the
woods and sat down by a brook
and leaned against a tree and
listened.

At Spring
I Jove to play when it is
spring. I can ride my bicycle
and race with my brother and
sister. I love to play with my
sister and my brother. Some
times I am going to spend the
night with Sherrel and I hope
we will have fun. Sometime I
might go spend the night with
Beverly, too. I am going to have
a good time in spring.
I hope I can go play with
Linda a lot this spring. I know
somebody I can go see every
day this spring. Do you know
who it is? Well her name is
Linda Kay and she is nice. We
always play seesaw when I go
to see her.
She comes to see me every
day and we race on the bicy
cles. I love to race with Linda
Kay. I win the race most of the
time. She wins the race too,
sometimes. She wants to win
the race but she does not win it.

The Coming of Spring
Any one can tell the coming
spring. The flowers are in
bloom, the days are getting
longer. The birds are flying
sack from the south to build
heir nests to raise their young
mes.
The tulips, azalias, dogwoods,
ilacs and many, many others
ire all in bloom. These are all
igns of spring.
Another sign of spring is
vhen the farmers start plow

heir crops and gardens.
Wayne Rooks.

Spring is a beautiful time of
