Mansfield Club House was
the scene of a memorable oc
casion on Sunday, when Mr.
and Mrs. W. E. Loyd were hon
ored by their children at an
open house, in celebration of
their Golden Wedding Anniver
sary.
Gold and white were used in
the setting’s decorative fea
tures, in keeping with the Gol
den Anniversary theme. Artis
tic arrangements of golden
chrysanthemums, yellow gladi
olus and snapdragons were used
effectively in executing the
color scheme in the spacious
setting.
Mrs. Zenas Whitehead, who
wore a smart black velvet
sheath with a yellow gladiolus
corsage, greeted guests at the
door. Miss Eva Sue Loyd, wear
ing a red velveteen sack model
dress, kept the bride’s book,
at an extended table overlaid
with white, which also held the
lovely array of gifts with which
the anniversary pair was pre
sented. Yellow gladiolus in a
gold pitcher formed the table's
floral arrangement.
Mrs. Loyd wore a teal blue
dress with the gracefully drap
ed lavaliere neckline caught
with rhinestone clips; and skirt
fullness achieved with gores.
Her corsage was of white car
nations, flecked with miniature
gold nylon butterflies, tied with
gold ribbon.
The refreshment table, with
lace and linen cloth, held as its
centerpiece the two tiered,
white embossed anniversary
cake, with tulle ruffle base and
gold rosebud embellishment,
which was topped with a minia
ture Golden Anniversary cou
ple. Mrs. Emory Loyd, of Deca
tur, who wore a blue and gray
floral print, was assisted in
serving the cake by Mrs. Up
shaw Bonner of Atlanta, attired
in a red silk model, with the
portrait neckline finished with
a self material rose. Flanking

candelabra holding glowing
white candles. The silver serv
ice at one end of the table,
from which Miss Lynnette Loyd
of Decatur, wearing a black
velvet blouse with scooped
neckline, with a turquoise fig
ured skirt, poured coffee, was
balanced by the crystal punch
bowl, base garlanded with gild
ed magnolia leaves and yellow
rosebuds.
Serving punch was Miss Shir
ley Ann Whitehead of Athens,
wearing a blue, waltz length
skirt and matching, embroider
ed sweater. Silver trays of
dainty party sandwiches and tea
cookies, golden cheeserings, and
silver bonbon dishes of yellow
and white mints completed the
attractive appointments. Nap
kins with golden wedding bells,
and lace doilies centered with
the gold numerals “50”, used
in the plates, further accentu
ated the Golden Anniversary
theme.
A musical program of piano
selections, rendered by Ken
neth Douglas of Decatur,
throughout the calling hours,
contributed much to the enter
tainment.
With the exception of Lt.
Commander Eunice Loyd, who
is stationed in Brooklyn, N. Y.
with the U. S. Navy, all of Mr.
and Mrs. Loyd’s children were
present for their anniversary
