Children of American Revolution Meet
The Children of the American
Revolution held their January
'meeting Sunday afternoon at the
|home of Mrs. Lyda Sue B. Hall,
director.
Mary Jane Dixon, president,
called the meeting to order. Re
ports were given by the secre
tary-treasurer, Sara Margaret
Patterson and the publicity
chairman, Margsret Rape.
New and old business was
| discussed. A motion was made
and carried that we wait until
*‘hext meeting to decide on a
name for our chapter.

licious refreshments consisting
of tea sandwiches and Russian
tea served by the hostess.

firmary in Atlanta, Georgia on
February 12. Mrs. Frankiin is
the former Miss Nan Hollings
worth of Porterdale. Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Franklin of Colum
bus, Georgia are the paternal
grandparents, and Mr. and Mrs.
W. H. Hollingsworth of Porter
dale are maternal grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Paul Roberts
announce the birth of a son,
Timothy Clay, weighing 8 Ibs.

Hospital, Monday, February 9.

Dr. and Mrs. Duncan H. Budd
of Gainesville announce the
birth of a daughter, Laura
Marie, weighing 7 pounds and 2
ounces on Wednesday, Febru
ary 11. Little Laura joins a sis
ter Linda age 8 to make a fam
ily foursome. The maternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Iverson Adams of Miami, Flor
ida, and the paternal grand
mother is Mrs. William Budd
of Cedartown.
Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Kitaif of
Palatka, Florida announce the
birth of a daughter, Jane Leslie,
on January 30, in Palatka. The
7 Ib. 7 oz. baby is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. H.
Waggoner of Covington.

Mansfield Baptist WMS Met Monday;
Future Activities Are Discussed *
Mansfield Baptist WMS met
at the church on Monday, Feb
ruary 9 with ten members pres
ent.
The president, Mrs. Dennis,
called the meeting to order and
welcomed every one. The group
repeated the watchwords. Mrs.
Dennis read an inspirational
poem “Cleansed” from the
“Home Life Magazine.”
Mrs. C. E. Roquemore led in
prayer.
Mrs. Leonard Davis, record
ing secretary, read the minutes
and they were approved. The
treasurer’s report was given
and committee chairmen were
called on for reports. Mrs. Luns
ford, prayer chairman, stated
that the five day week of prayer
plans for Home Mission were
not completed, but would be
‘announced later. |
' Mrs. Dennis reported that the
six Intermediate G.A.s and
their counselor, Mrs. Rufus
Harper, have made plans to at
tend the house party at Rock
lEagle on March 7 and 8.
An FEvangelistic Conference
will be held in Covington at
the Baptist Church on Febru
’,ary 24 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
and closing at 9 p.m. This
should be of interest to all
W.M.S. members and everyone
is invited to attend.
Following the business ses
|sion, the meeting was turned
over to Mrs. Leonard Davis,
program chairman for Febru
|ary. The opening program hymn
was “O Zion Haste.” Mrs. Davis
gave the devotional reading
scripture from Isaiah 55:7-13
and Joshua 1:6-9. Mrs. Davis
commented on the scripture
read and Mrs. Lunsford led in
prayer.
Mrs, Davis discussed the pro
gram topic “The Mountains
Break Forth in Singing.” The
program was on Alaska and
she gave some facts about Alas
| ka, the country, its history and
|the people who live there. She
displayed posters about Alaska
and Southern Baptist work
there. She discussed the work
{that some of the Baptist mis
| sionaries and their -wives are
doing there, which makes us
aware of the great need for
