Miss Warwick, Mr. Denney Are Married
At Candlelight Ceremony at Oxford
The Chapel of Allen Memor
fjal Church formed the setting
on Valentine’s Day for the ean
dlelight ceremony in which
Miss Beatrice Warwick, daugh
ter of the Rev. Mr. and’ Mts.
Jesse Warwick became the
bride of Horace Ted Denney,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace
Watson Denney of Newnan at
three o’clock in the afternoon.
The Rev. Mr. J. W. Searborough
officiated in the impressive dou~
ble-ring rites.
The Valentine motif was ac
eentuated in the wedding’s
theme. Emerald fern -circlets
and trees were interspersed
with fern garnished, pedestal
seven light candelabra of glow
ing white candles, base center
ed with gold rosette centered
love-knots of gold threaded
white nylon tubing as the altar
backdrop. The focal point was
a white urn of white gladiolus
and chrysanthemums with em
erald fern. White nylon tubing‘
love-knots centered with gold
ribbon rosettes were used as
pew markers,
Mrs. Jeff Kirby of Atlanta,
pianist, rendered an appropri
ate program of traditional nup
tial music; and accompanied

| was chosen as best man. Usher
| groomsmen were Charles White
{and Jerry Denney of Hogans
|ville; and Donald Denney cou
{sin of the groom, of Newnan,
who lighted the candles.
The bride given in marriage
by her uncle, Jeff Kirby, was
radiant in her ivory satin and
Chantilly wedding gown, fash
ioned along princess lines. Lace
scallops softened the close fitt
ing neckline; and the long
sleeves ended in a lily point at
the wrist. The full, waltz length
skirt of satin with front panel,
featured a lace overskirt with
butterfly bustle. Her fingertip
length veil of illusion was lace
edged and caught to a seed
pearl tiara; and served as her
“something borrowed” from her
sister-in-law, Mrs. Loy War
wick. She carried a white Bible,
gift of her brother and his wife,
topped with white orchids and
stephanotis, showered with
knotted satin streamers and
stephanotis. For ‘“something

and blue” traditions were also
honored; and she wore a six
pence in her shoe.
Mrs. Townshend Budd of At
lanta, matron of honor, wore a
Valentine red chiffon over taf
feta model, with sweetheart
neckline finishing the fitted bo
dice with cap sleeves, and the
full skirt in intermission length.
In her hair she wore a match
ing satin bandeau with flat
satin bow and circular, eye level
veil. She carried a nosegay of
white stock, edged with pink
maline ruff, and centered with
red rosebuds, which was show
ered with knotted, satin ribbon
streamers. Her satin shoes were
dyed to match.
The bridesmaids, Miss Mari
ann English of Macon and Miss
Kathy Webb of Newnan, junior
‘bridesmaid, wore costumes and
carried nosegays identical to
th.ose of the matron’s of honor.
Mrs. Warwick, chose an im
perial blue silk print, with fitt
ed bodice, three quarter length
sleeves and lavaliere neckline,
for her daughter’s wedding. She
wore long white gloves, a small
white fur hat, and a white or=
chid corsage.
The groom’s mother, Mrs.
Denney, wore a deep rose silk
dress with shallow scooped
neckline, fitted bodice and pear
shaped skirt., Her half hat of
satin was in deepening shades
of rose and she wore dyed to
match shoes. Her long gloves
were white, and her corsage|
was of white orchids.
Iramediately following the
ceremony, the bride’s parents|
were hosts in the church’s re-|
ception room, in compliment to |
the newly wedded pair. Floral |
arrangements in the spacious|
setting accentuated the Valen-|
tine theme. Red carnations,
white gladiolus and white pom
pons were used effectively in
a piano arrangement.
Guests were greeted by Mrs.
E. J. Brown who wore blue and
green paisley silk sheath with
square neckline, complimented
by a white carnation corsage. |
The bride’s book was kept by |
Mrs. Eugene Carter of Atlanta, |
who wore a beige lace with|,
fitted bodice finished with Peter |’
Pan collar, and a full skirt, with |;
which she wore a white carna
tion corsage. |
The bride’s table, covered |,
with white, held the three tier-|,
ed, white embossed wedding
cake, with red rosebuds inter-|
spersing the white maline base, |
ruff, Red frosting rosebuds
garnished the cake, which was

topped with a miniature bride
and groom posed in a Valentine
arch. The silver cake knife was
tied with a showered, red satin
rosette. Mrs. Charles Warwick
of Jacksonville, who wore a
beige Chantilly lace sheath,
complimented by a white car
nation corsage, assisted in serv
ing the cake.
The refreshment table, over
laid with white, held two cry
stal punch bowls, and was cen
tered with a silver epergne of
white snapdragons and pompon
chrysanthemums. Silver com
potes of nuts and bonbons of
red and white heart shaped
mints completed the attractive
appointments. Napkins with the
names of the bride and groom
inscribed in gold, emphasized
the nuptial motif. Mrs. Larry
Coggin of Newnan, wearing an
aqua model with matching cum
merbund, fitted bodice and full
skirt; Mrs. Tom Hambrick of
Newnan in an imperial blue
sheath with scooped neckline,
and Mrs. Loy Warwick of Ath
ens, who wore a costume suit
in hunter green, assisted in
serving punch. All of those who
assisted in serving wore white
carnation corsages. |
For their wedding trip to
Florida, the bride changed to
an imperial blue, wool iersey
sheath, with fitted neckline,
three quarter length sleeves and
a small bow emphasizing the
empire waistline. Her small
feather half hat was in white,
as were her gloves. Her corsage
lwas of white orchids.
Upon their return, Mr. and
Mrs. Denney will make New
‘nan their home with the par
‘ents of the groom, when not on
tour with the Baltimore Orioles,
with whom Mr. Denney is as
sociated.
Group One Girl
Reserves Met At
Porterdale, Mon.
PORTERDALE — The Maud
King Girl Reserves, Group No.
1, met on February 16. The
president, Sheila Dimsdale,
called the meeting to order.
Minutes were read by the sec
retary, Melody Barker.
Forty-one were present and
thirty-one had attended Sun
day School. Twenty went to
church.
We sang many songs and had
a good time playing games.
