Evening Division of Porterdale Woman s
Club To Stage Irish-Theme Program
PORTERDALE—The Porter
dale Woman’s Club, Evening
Division, will meet on Monday
evening, March 16, with a pro
gram having an Irish theme
under the direction of Mrs.
Claud Cason and Mrs. Bernard
Strawn. Chairman of the dec
orations will be Mrs. Joe Jack
son assisted by Mrs. Reuben
Rutledge. Refreshments will be
furnished bv the committee con
sisting of Miss Ruth Tanner,
who will be assisted by Mrs.
Carl Kitchens, M'rs. Louise
Berry, Mrs. James A. Jeffries, I
Salem WSCS Met Wednesday At
The Home Os Mrs Ted Haggard
Mrs. Ted Haggard was the
gracious hostess to members of
the Salem WSCS at her home
on Wednesday, March 4.
Mrs. J. F. Burns, president,
called the meeting to order
with the song, “The Church’s
One Foundation.” Mrs. G. W.
Ramsey led the opening prayer.
Miss Ruth Loyd read the
scripture from Ephesians 4:11-
16 which was brought to a
close with a song and prayer.
“One in Christ” was present
ed as the program by Mrs. G.
W. Ramsey being assisted by
M'rs. W. C. Bates and Mrs.
Doyle Bailey.
Minutes of the February
meeting were read and approv
ed and the treasurer’s report
was given.
Mrs. Burns read correspon
dence which had been received
since the last meeting.
Mrs. Haggard gave the re
port of the WSG meeting held
on March 3.
A nominating committee,
composed of Mrs. Hoyt Bailey,
Mrs. Douglas Yancey and Mrs.

select officers for 1959-60.
Mrs. Burns brought to a vote
the project of an Easter mem
ory and honor cross to be placed
in the sanctuary on Easter
morning. The project was
adopted and anyone wishing to
remember or honor their loved
ones will get in touch with Mrs.
Burns.
A verse of scripture was giv
en by the members as the roll
was called, ten members an
swered the roll call.
Mrs. E. M. Sageser of Lexing
ton, Kentucky, who is visiting
Mrs. Haggard, assisted her
daughter at the social hour.
Mrs. Haggard invited the
ladies to tour the newly-dec
orated parsonage. Each lady
present enjoyed the opportuni
ty of seeing the lovely home
of their pastor and family. The
hostess served delicious cake
and hot sauce with coffee dur
ing the social hour.

given bv Marlene Johnson and
Judith Steadham.

several Questions from the Gra-
Y Question box. Mrs. Weaver
conducted a game. Diane Jones,
the winner, received a lovely
prize.
We were dismissed with a
prayer.
